G2 - Important News for our Autumn Shows
Post by Piers on Aug 22nd, 2017, 10:34am

Hello,

If you're on our mailing list you'll have seen this already, but for those of you who aren't, here's a paste from the latest mailshot.

There will be updates in due course, i.e. before any affected shows, so if you'd like to add yourself to our mailing list please go to http://www.g2online.co.uk/contactg2.htm and fill in the on-line form.

Thanks,

Piers.

Hello,

Most of you will have been unaware, but Terry has been living with cancer for the last year. During this period there was little visible change to his general health, and apart from working around treatment dates he was able to continue his G2 activities with minimal interruption. Since the summer, however, the treatment has been more debilitating, and more exhausting.

The prognosis isn't clear, but given the uncertainty surrounding Terry's ability to fulfil future dates we are making contingency plans.

We are in the process of contacting singers from some of the other Genesis tributes to see if we can line up deps for the autumn shows. If he's in suitably good health Terry will be on stage with the rest of us, but failing that you may see someone else handling the vocal duties. We do have one in-house solution, Jamie does a mean Gabrielesque vocal, and if it turns out to be the best option for any particular gig G2 might just do some '4-man era' gigs of our own.

Looking further ahead, it's likely that Terry will have to permanently step down from the stage at some point in the next year. He has made it very clear that he wishes G2 to continue for the foreseeable future, and to that end has asked us to start the process of recruiting a new singer immediately. We will shortly be advertising publicly for candidates. It won't be an easy process, but the introduction of Jamie last year proves that G2 can be greater than the sum of its parts.

Terry is a private person. It's understandable that many of you may want to get in touch with him at this time, but he has asked that you respect his privacy and refrain from contacting him directly (e.g. to his personal email address or by telephone). Instead, please send any messages through me and Dave Austin using the g2bandinfo@gmail.com address. We will collate them and forward, but please understand that although very grateful for your support he won’t be replying to messages individually.

As always, we hugely appreciate the support we get from you, our audience, and we hope to see as many of you as possible at our shows this autumn.

Piers.
