xx ReGenesis Weekender in London!
« Thread started on: Oct 26th, 2016, 09:15am »

Calling all Genesis fans!!!

ReGenesis are very excited to announce a Genesis Weekender at the Half Moon in Putney. For those of you who aren't in the know, the Half Moon recently won the Time Out award for best small music venue and shows there are always full of atmosphere and excitement! As I'm sure anyone who made it to our Lamb preview in March will attest.

Given the reputation of the venue, we are therefore very flattered to have been offered a whole weekend to entertain you and have planned two varied evenings of music covering our chosen period comprehensively.

On Saturday, ReGenesis will be presenting, perhaps for the last time, their acclaimed performance of “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” along with some classic Gabriel era songs.

On Sunday, ReGenesis will present “Genesis - the very best of the Gabriel years” - a selection of the absolute classics in a two hour plus set, drawing on all Genesis albums from the Gabriel era.

You can order tickets here:

There's a weekend price if you're quick - be warned, tickets will probably sell out so best to book in advance. At the moment you can get weekend tickets for 20 quid - you could buy six for less than the price of one Phil Collins ticket, even if you've bought the cheap seats and finish up sitting the wrong way round at the back of the venue, behind a pillar, next to the loos with a security guard eating a MacDonalds next to you all evening and going on about how he used to be in the SAS and could ‘ave the fecking lot of them and anyway he prefers Oasis.

So why not make a weekend of it, invite all your Genesis mates (or some Bieber fans who you don't like very much) and have a great time in London! There's so much to do here! There's... the Tower of London. And a very big Marks and Spencer. That’s about it, though.

See you there!

Some comments about our shows this year:
“The Lamb doesn’t so much lie down as rise triumphantly in the extremely capable hands of ReGenesis. This new embodiment of the 1974 opus is the match of the original quintet’s both in expression and technical mastery, and with a performance longevity that far outstrips that of the Gabriel-era band, ReGenesis are pouring decades of experience into their most stirring production to date”
Paul Sexton, 10th May 2016
About Paul:
Paul Sexton is a journalist and broadcaster with the Sunday Times, Billboard magazine, BBC Radio 2 and others.
“Went to see ‘The Lamb’ at the Half Moon Putney. I was very impressed with the performance - very accurate interpretation of the piece. Lots of effort in recreating the music and sound - and the vocalist sounded like Peter!”
Nick Davies (Genesis Producer)
“I recently saw ReGenesis perform “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” at the Half Moon in Putney. I wasn’t sure what to expect!
At some point, I had a moment – I closed my eyes to listen... when I opened them I was surprised to see ReGenesis! With my eyes closed I was right back there again.
The gig brought back reminders of Genesis’ pub and Uni gigs with the likes of Queen and Keef Hartley and memories of shows with Lindisfarne came flooding back.
For me, the standout tracks were "Fly on a Windshield" and "Riding the Scree”. A Genesis tribute band stands or falls on its drummer. Phil was such a musical drummer, it should never have surprised us when his solo career took off. As a drummer he has big boots to fill and the ReGenesis drummer did a really great job.
Overall it was a fabulous experience - I stood at the back to enjoy the show. The audience knew every word.
There were even women there - and enjoying it too!!!!
Although I left Genesis before the Lamb, I visited them whilst they were recording it - with a mobile on a farm in Wales. I was reminded of wandering into the studio as they were throwing wine bottles into cardboard boxes to create the sound effects used on "the Waiting Room".
It brought back so many memories.
Heartily recommended!”
Richard Macphail, 6th May 2016.
