That was a great tour. I saw it at the NEC Birmingham . First time I saw Genesis was the year before but this was even better. They did Suppers Ready and had loads of pink revolving lights for Afterglow which blew me away. Brilliant.

It's time for me to be pedantic wink

This thread is about the 1982 tour when they played Supper's Ready. The year before was the Abacab tour and they didn't play SR on that tour.

Also, the pink revolving lights were at the end of SR, not Afterglow. Afterglow had the static pink lights shining out from behind the stage wink

Hi there

I vividly remember the field of white crosses made out of posters people had bought at the gig being held up during the Apocalypse section of Supper's Ready. It was almost as if everyone knew that this one was going to be played in advance - spooky or what?

Indeed I am grin

We can't be having inaccuracies you know, like getting dates wrong from only 31 years ago! wink grin

Here is a clip from the 2nd half of Supper's Ready in Toronto in 1982. It's grainy but spine-tingling. Notice the pink swirling lights just after Phil sings "New Jerusalem!!" wink

I was there that night. I still get goosebumps thinking of certain moments from that show. I have very fond memories of what was, for me, a very magical evening.

I think most fans will agree that the 1982 tour was the last truly "classic" set from the band. I was lucky enough to see them five times on that tour and remember them all vividly - especially Hamburg, Deeside and of course, Milton Keynes!

Sorry matey we don't agree here.

Loved the Mama and IT tours with plenty of older songs to keep me happy.

Best wishes

I was there too. Went with Mead Gould Promotions. Someone on the coach recorded the gig and gave me his address to send a cassette if I wanted a copy. Can't remember his name. Think he was from Darlington or somewhere up north.

Hi there

I remember someone on our Mead Gould coach pressing their cassette into the hands of the coach driver on the way back so we could all hear it. That was my introduction to the barmy world of bootlegs! Them were the days.

The Mama tour was good but not a patch on the '82 tour imo - too many medleys for start off!

Hi there

Even Phil's introductions were funny ... "stuckes everywhere" anyone? Having King Crimson on the bill that day too was just the icing on a truly fantastic cake. Still don't know why that performance was a one-off though but I am glad I caught it. The band seemed to be having a great time at these gigs too which rubbed off on the crowds I think.

I remember listening to the tape on the way back too. Sounds like we were on the same coach all those years ago.

Hi there

I remember that I appeared to be the only Scouser on a coachload of fans from Leeds - crazy times all round wink

I was one of the Leeds posse. I had far too much to drink before getting on the coach in London and in Hamburg the night before the gig. I was nursing the king of all hangovers on the day and thought I wasn't going to make it at one point. Fortunately someone on the coach bought a crate of liebfraumilch and after a couple of swigs the hair of the dog worked wonders.
