Hi there, I remember reading somewhere about the bad reports Chester got during the first part of the WW tour. That was really surprising because listening to those shows i hear him playing beautifully, in fact making several song sound better than the originals wink

I think it was the very first shows (at the Rainbow?) where Chester had received some minor critical reviews. I remember the term "fish out of water" was used. Basically, these were his first live gigs with the band, and apparently he seemed a little out of place, possibly playing a bit tight and careful, and it took a handful of shows for him to loosen up. But the same reviewer (I believe) saw him shortly afterward and acknowledged Chester had settled in quite nicely.

The piece was titled Cold Genesis, written by Chris Welch so I suspect it was published in Melody Maker.

We have not managed to get a copy for the website, but when we do we will upload it.

Mind you even Steve Clarke of NME steams into poor Chester,

Chris Welch is a not bad drummer himself. Maybe just jealous he didn't get the gig? grin

Nice article again, Mike.
