Vote away, peeps.

Voted "yes" because I think it's a very touching and magical song that appeals to everyone and brings people together. I really feel like it was the most appropriate song for saying farewell to the fans.

I have no doubt it was meant as a nod to the fans who stuck with them from earlier days but it made for a very downbeat and lacklustre end to the show.

And it's far from my favourite Genesis song so a massive NO from me (no surprises there.....)

"Carpet Crawlers" is a nice song to play in the middle of a set, but definitely not at the end. I went to the first concert of the 2007 tour (in Helsinki) and halfway through CC people started walking to the exit.

Still after eight years I'm a bit upset that "Turn It On Again" wasn't the final song!

Just my two cents for I guess I started a bashing thread about that song:

I liked it as last encore. It was a really nice closer and a change to the usual "let's kick out one more of our hugest biggest 80's hits" thing. After all, Invisible Touch was the regular final number, then I Can't Dance the first encore. Did you really want another one of those (Jesus He Knows Me for example)? A ballad will always signify this is really the last encore and the lullabyish Carpet Crawlers is just perfect imho, it is also a song that unites all sorts of Genesis fans. To be honest I'm surprised you all are so disappointed about it.

No..........but Turn It On Again or Abacab as final encore would have been perfect IMO.

Completely disagreed. Both of those songs to me sound like opening songs. Abacab opens its album, while TIOA opens side 2 of Duke and was the second song of the 2007 shows. They'd feel really weird as closing songs. The band wrote those songs to get you pumped for more. They are "we're ready to go" songs, not "we're finished, goodbye everyone" songs.

They had successfully finished the last two (Collins) Tours with TIOA. Are you saying this was incorrect?

Both TIOA and Abacab (live) have very powerful endings. That's what I expect to witness at a stadium concert.

They did? huh

Okay, just looked it up... they did. Didn't know that. I haven't memorised many Genesis setlists... embarassed

Meh, whatever. I still think TCC ended their final tour better. tongue The lyric "We've got to get in, to get out." implies a sense of companionship.

No probs. I absolutely understood why they did it. I just think a more upbeat song to leave everyone on a high would have worked better.

That's all.

Er, I don't actually mean That's All, the song.....I mean that's all from me lipsrsealed

Although, come to think of it...... wink

I thought it was OK, but Fading Lights would have been the right final song for me.
