Hello there,

I know the band tried to rehearse the song Abacab but Phil nixed it because he didn't like it, but do you think the band should have somehow mixed something in from the album?

With the album being such an important part of the band's history I was really disappointed they didn't play anything from it.

I love the Abacab album, and would have enjoyed hearing the title track on this tour. However, I can't imagine any of the other songs from the album came under serious consideration.

I would have loved to hear "Whodunnit" on the 2007 tour! And I know many of you will agree, since it's a huge favourite among us fans.

When Phil said: "We'd like to end the show with something which typical of Genesis history" I did at first think that was an original way to describe Abacab's title track, and then thought, for the briefest moment, that they'd launch into Me and Sarah Jane, just to really fox the casual fans who'd come to hear the hits.

I was quite knocked out when they did Carpet Crawlers, since the Lamb had already been represented by the Cage. Still, there you go, nothing from Abacab.

Ahh..no.

I think Phil dropped Abacab because he couldn't get the key right to sing it anymore. Shame really..

I'm still quite alone in this but I believe ending the show with CC was a mistake. I reckon it should have been something really epic and CC doesn't cut it IMHO...

Nah... would have preferred more prog in the setlist, to be honest.

Abacab is somewhat proggy and a great track, but I would have loved it if they'd played Undertow instead. cool

You're not alone. Sitting in Berlin at the end of the show, on 3 July 2007, with the audience piling out of the place, I listened to the studio version of Fading Lights and said out loud: "Shit, didn't anyone tell them they should've finished with this, instead of Carpet Crawlers?" After all, it was absolutely the last time they were going to do a tour like this - Phil should've closed that wonderful show with "Remember..." hanging in our ears. I'd enjoyed the show immensely, of course, but it ended with absolutely the wrong track, If you want to say "Goodbye" to your loyal fans, then with Genesis there's only one track, and I would've preferred to hear it live than hear the studio version *sigh*

Seem to recall reading somewhere that Abacab (the title track) was rehearsed but dropped because Phil couldn't get behind the lyric anymore.

That being the case I would have taken the instrumental end section in place of Dukes Travels in the Cage medley.

Thought Carpet Crawlers was a dreadful song for an encore. Abacab would have had us all rocking in the aisles cool cool cool

Hi there

They could have had great fun with the visuals to accompany Keep It Dark, the only track I liked on Abacab when I first heard the album (before it became a frisbee) and still my favourite from it after all these years.

Nursery Cryme made a better frisbee.

The vinyl was slightly thicker wink
