it's funny to include tony himself on the vocalists poll. cheesy

there are only eight options, so i've had to omit those who sang only one or two songs, like toyah willcox.

Of this bunch, I feel Fish was really the only vocalist who elevated the songs with his own unique delivery, particularly the two from Still.

The others for the most part Ė and I include Tony in this - I think filled the bill, did the job, but didnít distinguish themselves in either a negative or positive way, other than the fact they didnít steal my attention from the instrumental portions of the music.

Honestly, Tony himself did the best job for me. Not just because he is Tony - all the others are nice singers but none of them adds that special something to the songs like Peter and Phil always did. Tony did it on The Fugitive.

The best singer for Tony's music has always been Peter Gabriel.

tony said on the 'chord too far' booklet notes that his voice was similar to neil tennant's. i had thought about that similarity before i read about it.

I voted Kim Beacon, but Fish, Toyah, and Jim Diamond would be my next 3 choices, excluding PG!

Tony himself followed by Kim Beacon & Alistair Gordon, but the songs he did with Fish are excellent.

The best singer for music written by Tony would be a certain Mr Collins. But out of the ones listed I chose Jack Hues, because I think he did a great job on Strictly Inc.

The problem with Fish, as has been discussed elsewhere, is that he has a very hard time singing something where he's not making up the melody himself.

It's interesting (or, It Takes Me By Surprise) how people can hear things differently. I've always thought of "Still It Takes Me By Surprise" as a prime example of a singer not being right for a song.

I agree!
