Yeah, Cav - saw Fish on tour last year and he was in much better vocal form than he has been for many a year - he'd be a good choice.

Fish would be a great choice, and I'm pretty sure he'd be up for it, since he is clearly a Genesis fan!
Would be nice to hear Tony do 2 tracks, one in Peter Gebriel mode, and one as himself!

Hi there
Can't wait to hear this new one. Steve told me a few days ago that he was currently working on Musical Box and the shivers went down my spine as he spoke! I know that the first album wasn't to everyone's taste and there are some tracks on it that I can take or leave but overall if it made you revisit (pun intended) the original music then that is no bad thing.

I think Tony Patterson would be a great choice, however id like to hear him as himself (which is brilliant)as i think getting someone in as Gabriel soundalike per se,would be stepping over the thin lines of reworkings of Genesis music, and a bonafide tribute type album. I seem to remember Tony Banks was mooted for the original Revisited album, but management vetoed this as he was working on CAS at the time, however his involvement would give added kudos to the project, and although i love most of the original, surely the embarrassment of the I Know What I Like reworking, must be avoided at all costs.

Actually the more I think of it, the more i believe Steve would not want soundalikes as he probably does not want to produce a Genesis tribute album as such. I am expecting surprises particularly in vocals.

Yeah, but don't forget what Tony pointed out after working with Fish on STILL: Fish has a hard time singing melodies that have been predetermined by others.

I hadn't heard that, but it could be an advantage if he does another "rework" like Your own special way.

I am hoping Steve does some nylon guitar reworkings of some tracks as I love the stuff Tony "trebleclef" has done on YouTube.

Honestly, I'm not too excited and rather disappointed to know that Steve is rehearsing old material that is perfect as it is.... except sonic-wise.. Ah, yes this can be improved.
I'm afraid to hear things like "Waiting Room 2" and "I Know What I Like" that I skip each time I play this CD.... which I usually NEVER do. Firth of Fifth has got a terrible dissonant middle section too.... while the rest of the track and guitar solo part are magnificent.... That one really made me .. frustrated. "Your Own Special Way" had been transformed in a nice but very average 80's AOR song too, while the original was so moving and delicate... If that was not for the beautiful electric guitar solo, I'd dislike it.
I hope to love some other versions yet... like on the first Genesis project but well.. oh, this has been done how many times... I thought he didn't rely much on the past but there's really.. I don't get the reason why this is done.. maybe to please some fans.
I'd be glad to hear Tony Patterson, but not emulating Peter Gabriel, I really can't see the point. Tony sings much better with his natural voice, in my humble opinion.
What I'd like to hear is real orchestral arrangements....
I'd rather hear a real classical album with original music from Steve....

I'm with you on all that, except I'd say "rehashing" instead of "rehearsing."

The first GR is possibly the least-listened-to SH album I have so I don't imagine I'll even bother getting the second.
Having said that, I'll never be critical of artists releasing new music - even if it's stuff I have absolutely no interest in. The latest releases from PG, PC and TB are each a case in point for me.
I'd much rather see them remain active than have them stop producing all together.

Even though I'm not a big fan of GR I do listen to it fairly often for some reason. I guess it does have its points of interest.
