I received a copy of Out of the Tunnel's mouth and then realized there is a 2-CD edition. I hate when that happens.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the 2-CD is essential? If I have the Genesis Revisited Live albums is this just rehash?

I have the 2-CD edition but I wouldn't consider the bonus CD "essential."

All the lead vocals on the live tracks are by Gary Toole. He does well on "Firth of Fifth" but falls a little short (IMO) on "Blood on the Rooftops" and "Broadway Melody."

The "studio track" on the bonus CD, "Every Star In The Night Sky," is basically a rather muddled remix of "Sleepers" (with a snippet of "Still Waters"). It makes an OK postscript to the main studio disc but it's not worth much in and of itself.

Thanks for your opinion. Actually, when I saw yesterday that Gary did the vocals I wasn't as disappointed as I had been at first. He's not my favorite vocalist. His phrasing leaves something to be desired at times.

I should clarify that there's really nothing wrong with the live tracks on the bonus disc, but they may not be worth seeking out if you have another release that essentially duplicates them. I'm not familiar with the Genesis Revisited Live albums, so someone else may be able to speak to that better than I can.

I have live versions of all of those songs....I just tend to be a completist, so when I see I've missed something I think, "Oh, no!"

Hi there

The live tracks were recorded at the band's gig at the Stazione Birra in Rome in 2009. I was lucky enough to be at that gig.

I should note that the OOTM SE live version of "A Tower Struck Down" doesn't end in the explosion like many live versions, but continues on to the part that originally led into "Hands of the Priestess, Pt. 2." I don't know whether any other Steve live album has a version like this.

I'll probably end up just buying the 2-disc version and giving the other one to a friend. LOL.
