I'm very saddened by this news. The Dan has been one of my favorite bands since I first listened to Can't Buy A Thrill some 45 years ago. Becker was an immensely talented songwriter and musician with a wry sense of humor and humility.

RIP, Walter. cry

I'm saddened to hear that.
As a sidenote, I owe it to the enthusiasm of fans on this board for fuelling my interest in Steely Dan.

I will definitely be pulling out their albums and giving them a listen tonight in Becker's memory.

+1

They very quickly became one of my favourite bands when I started listening to them a couple of years ago.

They were my first concert ever, 1973, the opening act for headlining band Bread. I'll never forget that gig.

What a huge loss.

I was introduced to Steely Dan by Mike Holmes from IQ. He is a big fan and even travelled to the US several times to see them live. Steely Dan are pure genius. We won`t see the likes of them again.

Don't miss out on Walter Becker's two solo albums. They get often overlooked and they are both excellent.

RIP at 67 (the same age Glenn Frey, who was a big fan, was). I saw them a few years ago & had the pleasure of seeing Walter sing Haitian Divorce.

Another sad loss of a great musician. Really glad I caught them a few years ago.

Walter gets in some nice licks in this performance:
