Opens door...enters dusty old rehearsal studio..turns on the light..pulls up a creaking old drum stool...

heres a little tale for y'all, didnt really know where to put it but then noticed this little used section.
This past week my son's band RUN YOUNG LOVERS have been in the recording studio with Mark Robinson at the helm producing a 3 track demo which he is going to distribute to various contacts he has in the industry.
You will of course recognise the name Mark Robinson huh
Come on...keep up grin He was engineers assistant on the WCD album and Collins solo album Both Sides at Farm Studios. This guy now runs a nice recording facility at a nearby tech college where he lectures in music tech. The bassist in the band played him a demo,he rarely gets excited about new music but was excited about getting my son's band in for a week and seeing if he could get some record company interest seeing as he has a pretty decent contacts book. They had a great week and every day Jack,my son, would get home and i would be like, come on then, dish the dirt, give me all the goss about what Genesis got up to...of course there was little,if any goss this being Genesis grin

In fact, only 2 stories for you. One day,Tony Banks is doing some keyboard work at The Farm when they all notice this hot air balloon getting lower and lower, then landing in the grounds. Out steps Peter Gabriel on a birthday balloon flight with some mates,he recognised The Farm and thought he'd pop in see who's about smiley
He and Banks hadnt seen each other for awhile, cue much hugging and tea drinking, then off he flies.

After finishing the WCD album,Phil Collins announces that prior to Genesis commencing a long tour,he wanted to make another solo album,Both Sides. Nick Davis and Mark rub their hands together in anticipation and excitement, who's coming in for the sessions ?? Gotta be some big names dropping by to contribute. Then Collins says...oh,and im going to play ALL the instruments myself...Nick and Mark look at each other, roll their eyes and there is a mutual groan of disappointment grin grin

er,thats it really..if anymore gripping tales emerge i will of course let you know undecided

They had a great week with Mark anyway,a lovely guy to work with with tons of stories about the various big names he has worked with over the years, just not many juicy ones about Genesis im afraid !!

The band with Mark, far left. My son 3rd from left.
Mark wanted a fairly raw end product with as much "live" feel as possible to send out to companies who, apparently, are not interested in listening to a multi layered highly polished demo. They want to hear what the band is really about.
Been a pretty good week for them, they had a blast working with Mark and have had tracks played on XFM and BBC London Radio this weekend.
