ELP Album Rankings
Post by rael1974 on Sep 13th, 2017, 09:06am

Rank the ELP albums. I'll be ranking the albums from Emerson, Lake & Palmer to Love Beach, since those are the ones I've heard. I will also include Emerson, Lake & Powell in my rankings.

1. Brain Salad Surgery
2. Trilogy
3. Emerson, Lake & Palmer
4. Tarkus
5. Works Volume 2
6. Works Volume 1
7. Emerson, Lake & Powell
8. Love Beach

*1-4 are great
*5-6 are good
*7-8 are okay

I would second your ranking of the ELP albums. I assume you're only including studio albums. Their live triple album, Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends ~ Ladies and Gentlemen is marvelous as well. I'm a bit impartial as I was at both shows in Anaheim in 1974 when this was recorded. Phenomenal.

1. Brain Salad Surgery
2. Trilogy
3. Emerson, Lake & Palmer
4. Pictures at an Exhibition.
5. Tarkus
6. Works Volume 1
7. Works Volume 2
8. Emerson, Lake & Powell

For me 1-5 are all good, just recently acquired works vol 1 and 2, which I've been enjoying a lot.

Gosh, how did we forget PAAE? I like Tarkus better, so I would have PAAE in the number 5 spot tongue

That's correct. Personally, I don't like to compare studio albums with live albums (that SEBTP vs SO thread was an exception though).
