A few weeks ago I got hold of a bunch of CDs and LPs from a friend who was sorting out stuff he didn't need any longer. Among the CDs I took there's a Best of Ekseption, and tell you what, I was having it in high rotation all the last weeks! I love it! smiley

Ekseption tried to follow the trail of The Nice but imho they were better. They had brass and were way more into jazz than all the other rock bands of the time that tried to transform classical pieces into rock music. Some of the later tracks (as I assume, the booklet doesn't give too much information) are a really nice mix of baroque chamber music with recorder flute and harpsichord and smooth jazz with Fender Rhodes and Moog. Anyways, I can't get enough of that stuff right now! cheesy I will check out the original albums.

Wow! Checked out their catalogue on progarchives.com and they've released tons of albums, some of them ranked pretty high. Going to check them out. Thanks for the heads up wink

Have most of their stuff. Esp their early years were very refreshing at the time. Very popular in Netherlands, and their rendition of Beethoven's 5Th is one their best known works. i like their Toccata & Fugue from JS BAch best I think...

Frontman Rick vd Linden sadly died a few years back....
