xx Yes Album Rankings
« Thread started on: Sep 6th, 2017, 12:13am »

Rank the Yes albums. I'll be ranking the albums from Yes to Big Generator, since those are the ones I've heard.

1. Close To The Edge
2. Fragile
3. The Yes Album
4. Relayer
5. Going For The One
6. 90125
7. Big Generator
8. Tales From Topographical Oceans
9. Tormato
10. Drama
11. A Time And A Word
12. Yes

*1-7 are great
*8-12 are good

Big Generator ahead of Dramahuh The former is one i think is awful by Yes standards while Drama has some superb songs. Oh well, it is all about personal opinions and tastes. cheesy

But my top 3

1.The Yes Album.... Just love this to bits and often played a lot.

2.Fragile
3 Close to the Edge

Will keep updating this thread within the next few weeks or so.. smiley

I can do The Yes Album to Drama:

1) Going for the One
2) Close to the Edge
3) Relayer
4) The Yes Album
5) Fragile
6) Drama
7) Tales from Topographic Oceans
8) Tormato

To adapt rael1974's method:
*1 is phenomenal
*2 is great
*3-7 are good
*8 is OK

Going for the One is a very clear winner for me, and Close to the Edge clearly ahead of the rest as well. Although, I would say that the material from The Yes Album and Fragile (as well as, to a lesser extent, CTTE) is vastly improved in the live album Yessongs. The studio albums in this era seem much too cold and sterile (and there are some wonderful extended bits & live endings to hear on Yessongs - if you ignore the drum solo in "Perpetual Change", which I have solved on my PC/iPod by editing most of it out!).

Was it you or was it me? Or was it he or she?

NB: despite what my name may suggest, I was not born in 1972 tongue
