He walked into a valley, all alone. There he talked with water, and then with his no son, his no son of vine!

Very Yes-like and impressive indeed. |

I agree with you, Carl. Starcastle are a great band that almost didn't exist. They had terrible luck in the beginning of their career. Before they made their first album in 1976, they lost all their equipment in an accident, and one of the members had broken his back.
But after a hiatus, they got back on their feet and recorded the self-titled Starcastle album, which to this day is my favorite.
Song Of Times came out in 2007 and is still very good, though sadly their bassist had passed on during the making of the album. The harmonies are nice and I love the way Gary Strater's bass sounds very much like Chris Squire, one of my all-time faves.
If you love 70s music and dig Yes, then you need to search out Starcastle's first three albums.

Now listening to:
Starcastle - Starcastle - via Spotify.
I'd forgotten just how good this album is. Great harmonies and melodies, great bass work, a la Chris Squire, great keyboards. Great all round performances in fact. Comparisons to Yes are obvious, as COT says, but this is more digestible. If you like the simpler side of Yes, the more 'easy listening' side, I suppose you could call it, then you'll love this. These albums can sit proudly alongside the Yes classics, imo.

As good or better than Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth
Many of the compositions are downright beautiful.

My new bongos, which arrived today. Seeing as I can't have a drum kit in the house, this will satisfy my drumming requirements when I feel the need to have a bash or three...
