Would you like a compilation CD Sue, to see what all the fuss is about?
(I've got an awkward feeling that I've promised you one already and not sent it....)

1. The bands would have to cater to the under 25 crowd by writing 2-1/2 minute dittys. 2. I have no doubt that any of today's prog greats could make it into the top 10 if they did start getting airplay. 3. We would start seeing these bands' videos on VH-1, replayed every half hour. 4. Every time you'd turn on the radio, you'd hear the bands' most popular song, also replayed every half hour, which, after awhile will make you want to scratch your eyeballs out, pour gasoline down your throat and light a match. 5. Your favorite prog band's name would be synonymous with 'bubblegum,' because that's all they'd be allowed to play on the radio, on their records and live in concert, as the younger crowd are very fidgety and cannot sit still for a 30-minute epic. 6. Ticket prices to see TFK at a 30,000+ seat arena would shoot through the roof, and for $300 you would get a seat in the nosebleed section, while some snotty nosed pimply faced geek has won your 10th row seat in a radio contest because he was the 53rd caller. Oh yeah, and he also has never even heard of TFK.
COMMENT SECTION I rather like the fact that I can listen to my favorite prog bands whenever I want to, and that they're an alternative to what's on the radio and on T.V.
Kudos to you, Didrik, for having good taste in music, for being able to appreciate all the nuances that a band like The Flower Kings puts in their songs, and most of all for understanding that to experience a 30-minute epic requires listening to every single note for the entire 30 minutes, without interruption by your best friend who is bored with it all and would rather be outside riding his skateboard. |
|
Haha, well there may be a couple of stages between where TFK are now and this, but that's ok Well I jsut can't understand why anyone wastes their time listening to hip-hop and r&b and all that crap, it is just plain awful. And that people can listen to bands like U2 and worship them is simply shocking.. not that they suck, but i get bored after about 2-3 listenings of each song.. ah well, people may call me boring and onesided because i mainly listen to maybe 3-4 bands, but if they only knew how diverse they all are.. like, how can you get tired of TFK? beats me..
And congrats nicky on viewing MTKF disc 2. can't believe it took you that long.. definitely my favorite music DVD ever!!

I stumbled across something you all should take a few minutes off and read.. It is a detailed description of Roine Stolt's thoughts about his music (Adam and Eve in particular), his religious views, and his views on writing, originality, fans, and many other things. I really enjoyed reading it, and I must say that Roine is one of the persons in the whole world that impresses me most.. Ah well, I found it in the News archives on the TFK homepage, read under the title "Adam and Eve"
http://flowerkings.se/?s=news_2004
you should read the other stuff too, of course, but i found the A&R bit much more interesting..

Nov! How did you know? Yes indeed, I am the one and only Bonkers, lead singer and drummer with the Nikki Elvin Garage Band! (Collins? DeVirgilo? Who are they?) I have been stopped on the street by adoring fans - well, ok, it was by the Police - apparently Andy Summers wanted my autograph. Seems he is a big fan. (Could have done with him in the office to cool us down when we had that minor heat wave!) Have you noticed how I have gone off on a tangent? Now there's a fine group! And no, I haven't been drinking! I am just naturally insane! As Hasse says on Instant Delivery: 'Goodnightah!'

Now that sounds like it could be an epic of considerable length!

Indeed it could!
Broken down into six sections, of course:
An Orgy Is A Messy Business:
1) The bed of infinite paradise 2) God, it's hot in here! 3) You're looking gorgeous tonight, petal 4) Limbs Akimbo and his merry men 5) Post coital fallacies 6) Quick! Where's the Kleenex?
One wonders what the climax would sound like?
(Of the song, folks, of the song!)

Alright, alright, back on topic
Got 'The Road Back Home' on heavy rotation in the car at the moment Coming in to work tonight it hit me how flippin fantastic the version of 'Painter' is on there! Now i absolutely love 'Magic Pie' followed by this on Flower Power, just orgasmic! But this version is really great too! I really, really, love this song. It's just brilliant, always play it loud and sing my heart out to it!

Well, I have 'The Road Back Home' on order now. Should get it next week. So you like 'Painter' too do you Nikki? It's a great song isn't it? I just love the harmonies on it, plus everything else of course! You have great taste, young lady.

Indeed. Of course, it should read: I could murder a cuppa now, and a fag. But in these days of pc it wouldn't go down well. Bit like a boil on the bum. I would still say it, of course, even though I don't smoke ciggies, just to be awkward!
