xx Early VL-122 (no foldback) or Spinet simulation?
« Thread started on: Nov 24th, 2016, 11:20pm »

Hello,

Does anyone here have an earlier version of the VL-122 vst where the upper harmonic foldback is turned off?

The version that I found online has foldback, so it's not a very good emulation of a Spinet Hammond organ.

I read version histories of the VL-122 and, if I'm remembering correctly, when it first came out it didn't have foldback, but foldback was added in a later revision (god knows why, since the L-122 that it tries to emulate doesn't have any).

Or, alternatively, is there any Hammond Spinet emulator, in hardware or software? (other then the Native Instruments Vintage Organs' M3 or an early version of the VL-122)

I wanted a gigging substitute for my old Hammond T-400. I've been using the Ventura (Tokai) TX-5 for hammond sound, and while it's a nice simulator, it, like all others that I know of, can't turn off the upper foldback.

Hi Winkler,

Don't know what VST you've been using but this one's quite good.

Cheers

The AM Music Technology VL-122 is the only plugin I've seen for any spinet Hammond. I don't think it sounds anything like a real L-122 so I'm using VB3 and tweaking the drawbars to get something close. VB3 allows you to shut off foldback on the 16' drawbar and its rotary effect is also one of the best.
