xx Manchester bombing
« Thread started on: May 23rd, 2017, 09:58am »

Woke up earlier today and heard the horrific news which targeted children at the Manchester arena... 22 have been killed and 59 injured during a Ariana Grande concert..

What seemed to be a suicide bomber during this concert. It saddens me that we will never see the end to this and we must enjoy our lives on a daily basis.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved and those that attended the concert!... sad

It has not been confirmed if this was a terror attack, but in my opinion such acts like this causing death is some sort of terror!.... angry

Devastating news. After Westminster earlier this year I prayed there would not be another attack for a long time. cry

Disgusting, pathetic cowardice.

We’re near enough to Manchester here for several people at work to have some link with those involved: my daughter’s friend & her sister who were in the Arena toilets were unharmed, while a colleague knows one of the injured. Everyone’s been to events at the Arena, including Peter Gabriel in 2013 for me. The victims were very unlucky indeed .... sad

Rather than instilling fear, this horrendous act only galvanizes public support for weeding out suspected terrorist sects and annihilating them at the source.
To those touched by this incident, they have my compassion.

There's bound to be fear after incidents like this. We really need more protection than we currently have in this country.

Very, VERY long prison sentences for inciting or performing acts of racial or religious hatred, which incidentally, work both ways!

The perpetrator of this bombing had been heard shouting controversial statements, etc, before this bombing took place. Next time, let's not wait.....

Exactly. I read today that MI5 are reviewing why the public reports on the bomber were not acted on.

But where do you draw the line?
Free speech is a cornerstone of our society and needs to be protected at all costs or what's the point of democracy?

You go down that road and next thing you have demonstrators being locked up for voicing their opinion about Trump etc

We can draw the line just this side of allowing people to incite or promote acts of hate and violence, which surely ARE undemocratic.

If it's a choice between total freedom of speech, or the death of innocent people and children, it's no choice. Surely?

All I'm saying is it's a slippery slope. You start down that track history has shown where it ends..
