I am shocked, stunned, and deeply saddened by this news, she was my favourite companion from the old days.
Rest In Peace, Sarah Jane.

Wow !!
Just clicked on the BBC homepage ... out of the blue doesn't do it justice, yet the story said she'd been ill for some time.

I just saw this on FB, and I am surprised about this. I had no idea she was ill. It's a shame, really, because Sarah Jane was my favorite DW companion. Definitely will be missed. RIP, Elisabeth Sladen.

Terrible terrible news. Did not know she had been ill. Wonderful companion and my kids loved The Sarah Jane Adventures (and me too)

Oh No! This is desperately sad..... My son is an actor and he appeared as a slitheen in the first series of 'Sarah Jane'. We met Elisabeth and she was a very warm, professional and caring person, encouraging and congratulating my boy when they ad libbed a scene with Floella Benjamin, and it worked out better than the script as it was written. I didn't know she was ill, it's really sad and he'll be devastated.
A great loss to all.

Shocked and stunned !
I grew up thinking of her as my favourite Dr Who companion and when Sarah Jane Adventures started it was like having an old friend back and my son Joe adored the show. He'll be as sad as I am.
RIP Elizabeth and thank you for the pleasure brought to so many lives.

A terrible shame. I saw BBC Breakfast's report on it and Russell T. Watson sent his regrets as did Matt Smith.
By coincidence I'd gone to the West Yorkshire Playhouse last night to see 'Hamlet', and Ted, another member of our group, said he'd seen it in 2002 when Christopher Eccleston played the lead.

I'm also completely blindsided by the news. Those around her deserve tons of credit for not allowing her illness to become public fodder for the media apes -- or perhaps said media apes actually did the right thing and left the lady alone.

This literally hit me like a bolt from the blue. I had no idea Elisabeth was ill. I'm stunned and shocked. Very very sad news indeed. Nothing more I can say except 'you'll be missed Elisabeth'.
