Just stumbled across this.Obviously most of us have heard of Darren Lock before:

Quote:
Here are my thoughts on the complete discography of Anthony Phillips, ex-original lead guitarist of Genesis. It's rather long and you can actually see the energy drain from me as the video staggers to its conclusion.

Enjoy!

Hi there

This man is a poisonous toad whose works are best ignored. If he had any kind of talent he would be a musician himself. Remember the old adage... those who can, do... those who can't... criticise.

Oddly enough, he is, of sorts!

I prefer to think of him as the David Brent of music critics. wink

Possibly a forum member, if post 2 on this page is to be believed: http://genesisgts.conforums.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=shsolo&num=1427901528&start=45

Though as a moderator, I can see his email address, and it does nothing to confirm this to be true. The IP address is South Coast, but I don't know if he lives there.

Say my name and I'm sure to appear!

I don't think I'm particularly poisonous, but then how would I tell as I've never bitten anyone? Just because you don't agree with what I say, then that makes me the worst kind of person. Too bad, I can live with that..

No-one is forced to watch my stuff or subscribe to my channel. But if you do want to, go here: http://www.youtube.com/vrooomuk

No, I'm not a musician. My career was in journalism back in the day, but I do music for my own amusement. You can bitch about that after going here: http://music.darrenlock.com

Toodles - I'm off to drown a sack full of kittens at the local stream...

Well, your stuff is available on amazon, so, in my book that makes you a musician, at some level at least (and I mean that in the sense of semi-pro or wherever you might be considered.)

You are, indeed, entitled to your opinion, and the chance to vent it as you see fit. it's just that, IMO, your videos need a more "professional" approach. The long, meandering, umming and aahing, "slack" delivery, not only makes the videos about twice as long as they need to be, but also makes them tedious, and frankly, less likely to be considered as worthwhile, in as much as: if you are going to criticise others, at least appear to be doing so with consideration and attentiveness. It just looks a bit "amateur".

Go on, try loosely scripting your next one and see what the feedback is like. wink

darren is following the youtube strategy that a negative review always gets more viewers then a positive review.

thankfully he seems to have lost the will to review anymore, and the only times he can be bothered is when a new album comes out from anyone on his shitlist or when someone dies.
