You can add me to the list along with 3 friends who I went with and a further 4 friends who went separately.

Everyone remembers the torrential rain but for some reason I have only a partial recollection of the details of the gig. It may have been because I was quite far back (the friends I went with didn't want to get anywhere near the mud) but I think also the sound was poor and swirling around in the wind and rain. We were nearer to the stage during the earlier support performances and I did enjoy Talk Talk's set but the hostility to them from a lot of the numbskull Genesis fans who hadn't a clue what they were about really pissed me off. A lot of crap was hurled at the stage during their performance and I think they finished early. John Martyn was great and the Blues Band ok - a strange mix of acts indeed. The rain meant you had to stand up the whole day so it really was an endurance test. It was great to see Gabriel with Genesis - I had missed out on that whole era - seeing Genesis for the first time in 1976 and solo Gabriel on all his tours up to then. Yes it was a mess at times and Gabriel did play drums but it was a one-off and as we now know never to be repeated so it's up there as a truly momentous occasion. We can only hope that one day someone will cobble the video together to give everyone a chance to see it.

I wasn't there ( I was only 1 year old at that time grin ) but from all I've heard Peter did play drums alongside Chester Thompson on Turn It On Again, however Peter kept messing up the 13/4 rhythm so he was muted in the mix. Whether it's truth or legend, it's a nice story wink

I thought Mike Rutherford once stated that the show was never recorded and that he was glad it wasn't due what he felt were the dodgy bits that bothered him at the time. Although he has had a change of opinion in recent years and wished they had recorded the concert.
