Hi there

It will certainly be weird being at a Genesis tribute gig (G2) the day after Knebworth his year - was it really that long ago since I was introduced to the wonders of Genesis and festival zoider?!

Wow it must be lovely to have memories of a Genesis concert smiley smiley Sounds like you all had great times smiley

It's a curious feeling (laugh) discovering a band's music then realising they don't play any more so I can never see them live.

I just have to wait for ability to go back in time grin

Another year and my thoughts return to the middle of a field in Hertfordshire and a midsummer genesis night. 34 years and we're still here... cool

Ooh - great Youtube clip!
- I remember my mum driving all the way down to drop my brother off at this Knebworth show - all the way from Newcastle!! - I was too young at the time (8 embarassed) so couldn't go!! - If only I'd sneaked in with him!!! cheesy

I had no problem at all in 92.

I did a bit of research, drove down country lines (rather than the A1 wink) to Knebworth Village, parked in a farmer's field, walked a mile to the concert arena, saw the concert, walked back to the car, drove home and was tucked up in bed by 1am.

I remember turning on the radio the next morning to hear Chris Tarrant saying that there were Genesis fans still stuck in the car park wink

Top tip - NEVER GO TO A CONCERT AT KNEBWORTH VIA THE A1 BECAUSE 99% OF PEOPLE WILL BE DOING THE SAME wink

20,000 cars and one exit - hmmmm.........

smiley

No one likes a smart **** .... I remember being parked quite close to the exit and completely unable to move in 92. Finally got out of the car park at around 4am and drove home. Got to bed at 5 .. got up a 7 and went to work.

My boss sent me home as I looked so sick !! Did not have the heart to mention it was self inflicted !!

So back in bed around 10.30 for most of Monday.

Now I would probably appreciate the 78 set list more than the 92 one .. but at the time I loved it.

I must admit that the first time I went to Knebworth (in 1986 - the last ever Queen concert) I was taken there and just went with the flow and we experienced similar issues to those you mention (though not quite as bad).

I vowed that if I ever went to another concert there I'd look at alternatives to the A1 wink

Me too. I was 16 had no way of going by myself , none of my friends were into Genesis and I'd never been to a concert. The whole thing seemed quite magical.
