Totally agree.....

But I would then have wanted TCC somewhere in the set as well wink

And I could have understood that. Just as the final number.......bad choice.

IMO of course.

...nuff said.

Well...no, not really.

I've just been listening to an "audience recording" of "Carpet Crawlers" from 1981. The crowd response to CC was incredibly positive, and that appreciation of it as a "classic" G song was certainly palpable (if you question my assessment, I should point out that I was present at that concert and definitely recall the vibe).

I guess I'm a bit puzzled by the whole question. The band pulls out an old chestnut from their past to end their presumedly last tour, and fans are less than satisfied.

Welcome to the world of Genesis fandom. grin

I understand that those who like the song may have enjoyed hearing it. But not (for me) as the final song and something a bit more upbeat would have been better (for me).

I attended two concerts on consecutive nights in Manchester and Twickenham. My recollection is that it was all a bit flat at the end but I concede I have negatively biased feelings towards the song.

Interestingly I also remember many forumites recalling a mass toilet exodus when HOMH was played. I recall no such thing. But then again could be my bias coming into play wink

More left during Ripples where I was sat undecided

Not me though. I even stayed for Carpet Crawlers wink

And I would have remained in the stadium bursting to go to the toilet for the entire concert even if they had played "Knees Up Mother Brown"..... cool

Nobody went for a toilet break in München (okay, okay, make that: I didn't see anyone leave). Is it normal in your countries that people leave in the middle of concerts to go to the rest room? huh Here people usually do that before and after the shows.

My (at the time) 18 year old daughter was astonished at my correct prediction of that very event. Also, would have preferred Afterglow as the show ended but CC is my wife's favourite so no problem with it.

I thought it was perfectly played, and placed.

It seemed like a great way to say goodbye while also giving a nice nod to longtime fans. Pretty sure Phil said it best: "This is from us to you". Perfect,IMO.

That's because you live in a wonderfully civilised country where you can drive home and then go out for a drink well after the concert. Whereas in England the government expect us to go to bed after concerts so we have to get as much beer down our neck before and during the show. I went for a break during HOMH at Hamburg and Berlin and it was very pleasant with no waiting at the toilet or the beer stalls. I do like HOMH but you gotta go sometime. It was easier in 1992 with Jesus he loves me to find a break!

Oh I liked the carpet crawlers as a down ending because that is probably the last time I will see the band
