Thought Carpet Crawlers was a dreadful song for an encore. Abacab would have had us all rocking in the aisles cool cool cool

Completely disagreed. TCC is a better song than Abacab. Abacab doesn't even work as a closing track.

TCC is also on a far better album, too.

cool

Using an excellent Genesis album like NC as a frisbee... blasphemy. shocked

Its opening track is probably the best progressive rock song there is IMHO. cool

LOL. I never used Nursery Cryme as a frisbee.

I didn't even buy it.

Real frisbees were cheaper cool cool cool

Imho the 2007 set list was very balanced. A splendid time was given for everyone, or since we're talking about Genesis fans: a fair share for complaining was given for everyone. (Hey, the other day I saw an entry in the German fan forum, some guy says he took his dad to one of the shows and he found his dad was perplexed Phil Collins played only about five of his big hits and all the other songs seemed to be brand new material or obscure B-sides.)

I thought that this was a really interesting question.
We all have our favourite albums, but why specifically Abacab?
Got me thinking.......
Once you consider the album, there are many gems within.
Abacab and Dodo are obvious good live tracks, but so are Keep It Dark and Me And Sarah-Jane.

Thanks for making me think!

I know the band tried to rehearse the song Abacab but Phil nixed it because he didn't like it, but do you think the band should have somehow mixed something in from the album?

Yes.

Hi there

It would have been good to hear something from Abacab (Who dunnit excluded of course!). Didn't really see why CC was the final encore though, left everything on a down note really but that's a minor quibble and before the Lamb... police start howling, CC would have been perfectly acceptable elsewhere in the set just not as an encore. imo.

Agree with you completely Alan. While I love CC, just not a good way to end the show in my opinion. I would have preferred something more edgy, perhaps Musical Box. One can always dream...

I just feel they could have done at least a bit of the instrumental part of Abacab.

Hi there

It just seemed to bring the atmosphere down which was the wrong way to go about it imo. They should have gone out on something up beat and dramatic but either way we should be grateful that we got to see them one last time.
