A spectacular video but I don't like the song. Hackett seems to continuing this middle eastern flavoured formula with pounding/marching drums. This is a million miles away from his classic 70's music, not for me I'm afraid.

I really like this track. Thought at times, had hints of the Camel's- Rajaz album in the music.. Steve's vocals is getting better.

I'll give it a thumbs up. As with the previous song given as a sample here ("In The Skeleton Gallery"), it sounds to me like a slight step up from where Steve was going on WOLFLIGHT.

I find the vocals especially interesting. After years of hiding his voice beyond effects, Steve has either grown to be quite a decent singer or he's figured out how to make the effects sound less artificial!

I used to find Steve's vocals were more whispering before, but now they appear more dominant ...

Leonard Cohenesque vocals at the start & a Kashmir sound throughout. Excellent work, Steve.

I've been looking for information on the various release formats and have observed a couple of things.

(1) The Blu-Ray bonus disc on the special edition lists a 12th track (strangely numbered "13" with no track "12") called "Somewhere In Darkest Teddington." Given that it's only on the Blu-Ray, and that the phrase has been used to describe the recording of the album, I wonder if it's actually a "making of" feature of some kind.

(2) The album proper is about 57 minutes long. That's not much music for a double LP such as the vinyl edition will be. If this were, say, an album by Anthony Phillips from the 1980s, it would all be on one LP, not two.

I wouldn't be surprised if SIDT is a feature, probably made by Paul Gosling. As for the LP, 57 minutes on a single album tends to compromise sound quality a lot, requiring either a reduction in bass or a quiet cut, or both. Given the tendency to do 180g vinyl, I suspect most companies would avoid that, as it kind of defeats the object.

Right, I wouldn't actually expect a current vinyl edition of 57 minutes to be on a single LP. Frankly, I'm just glad Steve's apparently not pulling another "Wolflight" and filling up LP space with vinyl-only bonus tracks! tongue

Ooh I like the new track. Wasn't too sure about it to begin with but the second half is a great payoff.

I still think everything sounds a little too smooth around the edges, a bit synthesised perhaps, as with Wolflight and to a lesser extent all the other rock albums Steve has done since Darktown. But maybe that's just me.
