I'm very sorry to bring you the news that Steph-Narnialady has passed away peacefully overnight with her husband by her side. Steph has worked tirelessly as admin on Steve's site and Facebook page. The announcement was made this morning on Steve's FB page.
She will be sadly missed...

Awful news. I bumped into Alan H recently and was told Steph was ill. A terrible loss to the Genesis community. Ever ready to help anyone out, anytime, any place. RIP Steph and condolences to her husband and family.

We lost a dear friend, moderator and Steve Hackett's most devoted fan (and friend) to 'that dreadful disease' yesterday.

She was a kind, caring, funny and genuinely nice person to know.

Genesis World has lost one of their greatest.

RIP Steph - now go and dance on that volcano and let the lava lick those boots away! wink

This is bizarre. I thought about here today, for some reason. Very, very sad to hear this, I met her only twice, but it was clear she was someone special. It was on her recommendation that I was made a mod here, and for that I thank her so much, that she would think I was worthy.

There really are no words...................... cry

Was very sad to hear about this - a truly lovely lady.

Communicated many times but only met in person once when she managed to get to a Los Endos gig in Babbacombe last year - incredible determination and will be sorely missed.
There is a lovely note from Steve on Facebook.

So saddened to hear of this awful news the weekend. We had some great times together over the past ten years, thanks to this forum and our mutual love of Genesis. I will always be grateful for the invite to meet Steve and Jo earlier this year. Never ever to be forgotten, rest in peace, Steph.

Jo and I are incredibly sad about the passing of our special friend Steph Kennedy, who's also been involved with this Facebook page since it began. She was extremely brave throughout her battle with cancer. She was a hugely generous and kind person, enormously positive and passionate about music. We already miss her a great deal and she will always be in our hearts. Our thoughts are very much with her husband Dave and all the family.
Warmest wishes to all,
Steve

This is from Jo Cummins:

I have been asked by Steph's husband, Dave, to post this message on his behalf. It is with a very heavy heart that I do so. I shall miss you Steph. Jx

VERY SAD NEWS
I'm sorry to have to inform you all that my wife Steph Kennedy passed away peacefully at home with me and her family on Friday 29 July.

She bravely fought for 16 months against lung-cancer and her strength and resilience during this time made me so proud of her; she just kept calm and carried on, taking one day at a time and trying any treatments available. From the outset she asked her friends to carry on treating her just as they had before her diagnosis and you did which helped her immensely. Steph appreciated all your banter, jokes and encouragement over that time and those of you who were particularly close to her were a rock and inspiration.

Our first date together was 5th November 1979 at a Steve Hackett concert in Derby and we married two years later. We both enjoyed progressive rock music by bands such as early-Genesis, Camel, Supertramp and newer bands inspired by them and, of course, our guitar-hero Steve Hackett and his bands, who remained a shared passion throughout our marriage; a couple of days ago we were listening to Spectral Mornings and Please Don't Touch which gave her great comfort.

We regularly attended gigs at the Classic Rock Society plus the Summer's End and Dan Festivals where we found a whole new world of music we loved and where we met some dear friends; Steph also loved the Genesis tribute bands where many of you may also have met her for the first time. In the time we had left together she managed to travel with me to see bands such as Curved Air, Renaissance, The Moody Blues, Rick Wakeman, Pendragon, The Strawbs, Lifesigns and many others including of course John & Steve Hackett respectively; we even saw Brian Blessed give a talk in Stratford-Upon-Avon about his book which she loved.

Our last concert together was in June when my brother and I took her to see Steve Hackett with his band performing at the 02 Arena in London and I still recall her face lighting up, all her troubles evaporating as she savoured each song. She met Steve and Jo that weekend and other friends; she was so happy and excited to be there.
I shall miss her so much and I know those that knew her will remember her kindness, her loyalty her cheeky laugh and sense of fun. She loved to help people and hosting Steve Hackett’s Facebook page was such a privilege and honour for her to be able to do.

She drew on an amazing inner-strength and energy to overcome every obstacle life threw at her. She will be with me every time I hear the music that formed the soundtrack of our lives together.

She would want us all to remember the great times shared with her at those concerts which gave her so much pleasure and the happy times you all had meeting up. When you next attend a gig that she would have been at, raise your glass to her, she'll be there in spirit singing and rocking happily along with the rest of you, drink in hand.
Dave (hubby)

The family requests that people do not send flowers but to instead please give a donation to one of the following 3 charities in priority order:
1) www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk who are wonderful people, they sent nurses to help us with Steph' for a few days and loaned equipment and gave advise. The charity are facing funding difficulties so they really need the money to be able to carry out the great work that they do.
2) https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/ another wonderful charity who sent a nurse to stop with us overnight
3) http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/ Cancer Research

I was so sorry to hear this news, I didn't know she was sick.

I met her only once at 2006 at the London Genesis Convention. I think of her and I took of Steve's boots!

Met Steph many times over the years at all kind of Hackett gigs and related events, gutted at the news. Last saw her at John H's Leicester gig and she was just so determined to keep going and keep enjoying the music. A more loyal and ardent fan of Steve's you could not find and a brave, brave lady! Rest in Peace xx
