I think the Allmans' first five albums represent the best of southern rock.
Gregg had a great soulful voice, and I loved his Hammond playing.
I am sorry to hear of his passing.
I'll have to play some ABB music later on today in his memory.

What can I say. He was only 69. I'm gutted. Been listening to him and The Allman Brothers since I was a teenager in the early 1970s. Seen the band many times in concert, plus a few solo shows with Gregg. RIP dear soul.

Although Gregg could play guitar, it was really his work on the Hammond organ and piano that anchored The Allman Brothers Band. Brother Duane was the virtuoso on guitar, capably aided by Dickey Betts.

In addition to being a great musician, he was also great singer, with a rough, bluesy, soulful approach. Definitely another big musical loss.
