I've seen Steely Dan a handful of times since their reunion back in the early 90's. The only time I was disappointed with them was at a show in Atlantic City about five years ago. I don't know if it was the band or the venue, but the concert came across as a bit sterile. They have been playing around here regularly at an outdoor venue that I usually avoid. But recently, I discovered that they were having a show at smaller theatre and managed to score a great seat at the last minute. It was great. Sure, they do have a slick, standardized show, but they still sound great and I really enjoy hearing them live.

Well, if they ever come back to the UK I will be there like a shot. It's an awfully long time since they were last here in '09.

Aja is a masterpiece. Royal Scam may be my second favorite of theirs depends on my mood. I love Katy Lied on rainy days for some reason. I'll try a Dan top ten but it'll be hard...

1. Deacon Blues
2. Black Cow
3. Babylon Sisters
4. Haitian Divorce
5. FM
6. Home At Last
7. Aja
8. Here at the Western World
9. Peg
10. Caves of Altamira

So hard to do damn left out some favs like Josie, Gaucho, Don't Take Me Alive, Pretzel Logic, Bad Sneakers, The Fez, King of the World, Dr Wu, Your Gold Teeth I and II.
