Just read today in prog/archives that people don't like Neal Morse's music because of the Christian themes, but if this had a Satanic theme, I bet nothing would be said!! huh

Iíve seen that reaction with other artists I like, and even as an atheist I find the aversion among rock music fans to Christian lyrics strange.

I can certainly understand Christians not wanting to listen to Satanic-themed music because it conflicts with their fundamental beliefs.

But it makes no sense to me that a person with no beliefs would single out albums with Christian lyrics as objectionable.

As long as itís good music, I donít care where the artist finds their inspiration.

Well The Prog Report seems to think it's the best prog album of 2016 so Neal must be doing something right!

This is my opinion!... I like the album a lot but it suffers from past material in my opinion or similarities. Do not find this an original album. I cannot judge what people look in terms of good music, only my own!! smiley

This is also reflected in some reviews but still surprised this got to No 1 huh

Then you have not heard all his material or Transatlantic stuff then?.... smiley
I am not alone in the opinion that this is not original.. Go and read a few reviews and come back here then comment again or start listening to other albums that he has performed in... As I said earlier I like this album a lot!... smiley

I have just about every CD Neal has put out minus a couple. TSOAD is up there with Whirlwind. Again, to my ears this album is fresh musically and lyrically. Maybe the fact that themes repeat themselves on the album is causing you to think this, but to me it doesn't sound like anything he has done in the past (with the exception of repeating themes within the album). I have yet to hear (besides from you) or read a review that states this is a rehash of older material...

As I said earlier, this album is good but not the greatest!... Look on this thread and read other comments from posts!.... smiley My rating is 8/10

I'm not alone in my judgement! smiley

That's fine. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I'm not debating that. I just disagree with some of your assessment. smiley

Tomorrow night will be my first Neal Morse concert. I've been watching the video clips that have been out from the first shows and this looks like it will be up there with The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway as Neal is doing costumes for the first time ever!

You were 100% right! That show was up there with the last time I saw Genesis up close at the warm up show in Toronto 2007! There is so much to say that I simply don't have time here, but maybe soon I'll start a new thread about the tour...
