I won't be getting it due to the vulgar album title. Absolutely unnecessary and forces me to question the band's intelligence. Sad.

What? Am I not allowed to make a moral decision now? Not hard to understand why I wouldn't purchase it if it's indecent.

BTW, I'm completely baffled that you'd even have to ask why.

I just think it's rather odd and quite disappointing that you have immediately decided not to buy an album and denounce the band because of something as trivial as the album name containing a rather commonly uttered four-letter word that forms part of an acronym. The word is starred out on the album cover apart from the F, and you can just refer to it as F.E.A.R. if you want to. That's what I'm going to call it.

Also, Headspace, a band you enjoy, has a track called Daddy F*cking Loves You. Did you question their intelligence too? wink

I remember back in the day, that I was pretty much upset by the announced album title "Anoraknophobia", simply, because I thought, it sounded stupid. I reconciled with the title, after I had bought the album and found it very enjoyable.

So it is plain as day, that I will buy F.E.A.R. on the day of its release, simply because I am used to buying every Marillion album on the day of its release since many years.

I hardly ever did regret that.

I'm not denouncing the band. I haven't been a fan of Marillion for awhile now. I feel it's time for a change-up.

The Headspace album was a gift from Ned Flanders. I don't like that song either. I think it takes a pretty small mind to not be able to come up with some other term to convey your feelings than the F word.

There are numerous complaints online about the title by longtime Marillion fans.

But why should I want to?

"F*** everyone and run" is a pithy and to-the-point phrase that adequately conveys a sentiment in a way I can't imagine another phrase doing quite the same. (What would you suggest? "Forget everyone and run"? "Sod everyone and run"?) It's visceral (in a potentially amusing way if that is intended) and really drives its point home.

But anyway, I wonder if this is a nationality thing. I and the members of Marillion are British, and I get the impression that the word in question turns orders of magnitude more heads in the US than it does here.

What this has to do with intelligence is beyond me.

I guess the bafflement is mutual. I don't understand why the title should be considered "indecent".

Perhaps we can just chalk this down to cultural differences (nothing wrong with that of course; I just think casting aspersions on intelligence is a bit unnecessary).

I tend to agree with CoT as I hate swear words or anything close too it!... I never use them and try other words to convey my anger... I do not like music or films containing foul language.

I must confess, that I use the F-word occasionally, when something doesn`t work the way, I want it to. I always use the English word. Using the German word would be embarrassing.

So there....

Fact is, the F word is overused but not without it's place. I think it was Eddie Izzard who said (possibly quoting his mum) that it makes a good exclamation mark but a lousy comma.

Next time you hear a blackbird singing in a tree, and think how sweet it sounds, remember that he's probably saying to other blackbirds "F*** off, this is MY tree" grin
