That is quite correct. Last night, I played Stardust We Are, Driver`s Seat and Big Puzzle in a row on my iPod. Absolutely overwhelming music.

Agreed. I think Driver's Seat sometimes gets a little overlooked, but it's a great song. Big Puzzle is top notch too while Stardust We Are is in my top three TFK epics, along with Devil's Playground and, at number one, the stupendous Garden Of Dreams.

Now playing:

Banks Of Eden - Disc 2

Only four songs on it, but they're all excellent. cool

Good to see a bit of activity here chaps smiley

If truth be told, I haven't listened to The Flower Kings much for the past 2 or 3 years.

From 2000 to 2012 they probably accounted for about 50% of my music listening cheesy

I will revisit soon though, especially the last few albums which, in my mind, aren't as good as the older stuff but I need to listen again having had a break for a few years smiley

Cheers!

Nice to see you on here too Nov. I strongly recommend you revisit the last few albums. After such a long break they do sound much better, imo, especially Banks Of Eden. I think we're going to be getting something new from them next year too, fingers crossed. (Out of interest, what have you been listening to lately? shocked wink )

Things are still quiet on the Flower Kings front, but we do have a couple of things to look forward to still. The project with Roine and Jon Anderson for one, and the new material for Kaipa Da Capo. Both of these should be well worth hearing. smiley

I agree. Can't wait! Regarding the Anderson/Stolt project, I hear that Jonas Reingold, Nad Sylvan, Lalle Larsson, Michael Stolt, Felix Lehrmann and Daniel Gildenlow will be on board as well. Should be nothing short of stellar!

What are everyone's thoughts on the Anderson/Stolt project then? I've played Invention Of Knowledge twice so far and think it's excellent. Pretty much what I expected if I'm honest, a good mix of both Flower Kings and Yes, more the former than the latter though. Strong melodies, very uplifting, with intricate and melodic backing throughout.
Does anyone else like it?

I like the album, too, for the reasons you mentioned. I think, I would like it even more, if there were less vocals and more instrumental sections. The band is really fantastic and they should have had more space to develop their talents. The album sounds a bit like a long recital of happiness and glory by Jon Anderson. Not that this a bad thing, but...

Yes, I think I agree with you Slowdancer, there probably should be more instrumental sections. It is a tad wordy. Nevertheless, it's still a highly enjoyable listen. wink

Thought I'd dust off this thread to announce that I'm playing something I haven't listened to in ages:

Flower Power

And it's still as good as ever, in other words BRILLIANT!!! cool

Great stuff, Carl cool

Love all their live DVDs, including the Tour Kaputt recording. Fabulous. Still cannot believe that no one in my close circle of friends and family here in SoCal even knows who TFK are. Their loss undecided

Yes, it's quite frustrating when you know there's talent like this out there yet it somehow gets lost or overlooked whilst radio friendly rubbish gets everywhere. X Factor type drivel seems to dominate at the expense of the hard working real talent. angry

Now listening to: Unfold The Future

Still an amazing album that ranks easily alongside all the classic 70s albums. For me it's one of the two pinnacles of their career, along with Flower Power of course. cool
