Not sure if this is the right place for this but I thought that Friday's gig at Leamington was excellent. I loved the older TFK songs and quite liked the new songs, which, for a first listening, was a pleasant surprise.

Sound of Contact played almost all of their album, which went down very well with the 500-600 audience. The icing on the cake, for me, at least, was the TFK encore:

Soon
Echoes
Cinema Show

with the SOC guitarist playing guitar on Echoes and then singing on Cinema Show, with Simon Collins joining them at the end, so we had double drums grin.

What an incredible concert, for a bargain 20. I've begun to realise that I far prefer TFK live to just hearing their records, so I bought the De Boerderij DVD, after the show.

Agreed! The only thing I was a little disappointed with was Collins not singing Cinema Show. I'd have LOVED to hear him sing it as he sounds SO MUCH like his old man!! smiley

Here is the fantastic medley of old songs that TFK played at Leamington (missing Garden of Dreams unfortunately). You can be spotted here Steve wink

This was certainly the highlight of the London show for me smiley

Gary, don't let the latest album put you off TFK! cool

Awesome group - they just seem to have forgotten that for the past couple of albums!! tongue

Bumped into Roine Stolt in the bar at the Hackett gig in Paris. Had to tell him not to move so I could go and find Dee with the camera. What a really nice bloke chatted for a while. He seemed really surprised when i told him I saw him last week in Leamington and he willingly posed for photos. In some ways the highlight of the day. cool cool.

I know now the only way to really understand the Flower Kings is to see them live.
Have done that now and understand it far more though it still does wander off in strange directions at times. wink

Hi there

I have often wondered if seeing TFK live might persuade me to investigate the rest of their back catalogue. It didn't work for Transatlantic though, I saw them at the High Voltage Festival and have seldom been so bored. Funny old world, innit?

Give them a go. The group of us from here that saw them last week at Leamington really enjoyed them and as Steve Hammond states they are probably better live than on cd/ download etc.

Good decision! They really are something else live.
You are so right when you talk about TFK music wandering off in all directions. grin
For a lot of people that is the key attraction. It is certainly one of their strong points and of course one big reason why it can take quite an effort to get into them. smiley

Hi there

If they ever got their backsides up to the North West I would probably make the effort to go and see them but as things stand I have more than paid my dues to music and bands by travelling to weird and wonderful places to see them and spending a fortune in the process and taking musical "risks" with bands I have never heard before. Things are different these days though and if a band won't make the effort to get out of the boringly predictable London/CRS/Leamington etc cycle of gigs then why should I?

Yeah but by wandering to much it can also have the opposite effect.I was going to take a guy from work to see them last week. He loves music but has never been to a live show but I think TFK would have been too much and maybe have turned him off completely.

TFK just finished their 2014 tour, plus Roine has been touring with Transatlantic as well. Karmakanic and Sound Of Contact also joined TFK on their tour.
