I think they could do an excellent version of Turn Of The Century, what do you think?

Hi Carl,

You do know that Transatlantic are going to be backing Jon Anderson on a set of Yes songs on the "Prog Nation" cruise next Spring don't you?

Oh, and yes, I would love to hear TFK have a go at Turn of the Century wink

This is the most Yes-sounding FK track to my ears......well actually the intro is a bit Genesis as well wink

Personally, I feel that too many bands are trying to sound like Yes these days, especially Jon Anderson's style of vocals. One in particular is Glass Hammer. But if I were to choose one song for TFK to record as a tribute to Yes, it would probably be South Side of the Sky (from the Fragile album). Great song.

Since Roine's guitar style was greatly influenced by Frank Zappa, I would like to see them do an instrumental version of Inca Roads (from the One Size Fits All album) or Peaches En Regalia (from the Hot Rats album).

Wondrous Stories. Maybe not as outright "proggy" but it's a lovely song I think, and well within TFK's realm. smiley

If not that, then perhaps Yours Is No Disgrace. cool

Hi there

Aaah Retropolis. The one FK album I actually own! Even reviewed it many moons ago. Might go and give it a listen if I can find it!

Well, with Desolation Rose having been out for a little over a month, I wanted to see how everyone is getting along with it.

Over the last couple days I dusted off my copies of Banks of Eden and The Sum of No Evil to compare.

For me personally, on a scale of 1 to 10, BoE would be somewhere around a 7 and TSONE would be a 9, at this point I think that Desolation Rose would be a solid 8.

Numbers has some great moments, particularly the opening and closing, but overall it feels a bit more "padded" to me than some of their other epics like Monsters & Men. The new album feels more cohesive and sounds stronger start-to-finish than BoE, in my humble opinion. I think that Tower ONE and Resurrected Judas are some of the best tracks they've done in years. smiley

I absolutely love it......a firm favourite now alongside Flower Power.

Also I will say that "The Wailing Wall" is my favourite track of 2013 from any band.....you could be forgiven to thinking of Camel (Stationary Traveller)....superb stuff. cool

OK I thought I would put up "The Wailing Wall"

Actually I mentioned it is akin to Camel's "Stationary Traveller" but also Manfred Mann's Earth Band does an instrumental version of "For You" and I am very much reminded of that cool

Can you please post this in the Camel thread?

If I do it, it'll be a case of; "there's Nov pushing TFK again rolleyes"

Cheers!!

grin

I just think other Camel fans would find a lot to enjoy with TFK. I mean, their more straight ahead symphonic stuff or the slow instrumentals with Roine going for it on guitar wink

I love both bands so I must be right smiley

I bought the download of Flower Power a few weeks ago. I'm trying to enjoy it, and undoubtedly there are some really nice sounds, and some really powerful passages. But the overall picture is not quite satisfying. It's a bit like the album cover - a bit synthetic, a bit plasticy, all wonderfully cosmic but not terribly relatable.

Also I'm quite amazed as to how much the main body of "Astral Dog" sounds just like a Pink Floyd song circa 1969-1972! tongue

Sorry to bring negativity into the thread, just thought I'd update Nov on my progress grin

Maybe I'll come to appreciate it more at some point. I do like "Deaf, Numb and Blind" a lot, and there's the wonderful folky whistly bit in the "Gardens Revisited" section of the epic.

Was it you or was it me? Or was it he or she?

NB: despite what my name may suggest, I was not born in 1972 tongue
