I'm heading off to meet up with friends down in Reading to watch the Cup Final today. My musical accompaniment will be a CD containing all of the Flower Kings tracks that I've kind of ignored for the past 8 years. I'm really looking forward to listening to this now.

Here's the list:

Close Your Eyes
Oblivion Road
The Wonder Wheel
Rhythm Of The Sea
The Melting Pot
Retropolis By Night
A Room With A View
Crying Clown
Compassion
Pipes Of Peace
A Day At The Mall
Hotel Nirvana
Hudson River Sirens Call 1998
Afterlife
The Rainmaker
Sword Of God
Mr. Hope Goes To Salzburg
One Whole Half
Agent Supreme
Violent Brat
The Woman With No Shadow
Genie In A Bottle
Grand Old World
Soul Vortex
Rollin' The Dice
Man Overboard
Too Late For Tomatos
Christianopel
The Navigator
Vox Humana
A Vampire's View
Adam & Eve
Timelines
Jealousy
Bavarian Skies
Mommy, Leave The Light On
The Way The Waters Are Moving

Excellent list indeed! I especially like:

Close Your Eyes
Rhythm Of The Sea
Hotel Nirvana
Hudson River Sirens Call 1998
Afterlife
Sword Of God
Genie In A Bottle
Soul Vortex
Rollin' The Dice
Too Late For Tomatoes
Christianopel
A Vampire's View
Adam & Eve
Jealousy
Bavarian Skies
The Way The Waters Are Moving

But the rest are good too.

However...you seem to have some I don't recognise, specifically:

Mr Hope Goes To Salzburg
One Whole Half
Agent Supreme
Violent Brat
The Woman With No Shadow

Are these fan club tracks, or from a solo project?
I recognise a couple of the titles, eg: One Whole Half & The Woman With No Shadow, but I've never heard them.
The only fan club track I've ever heard is 'Venus Fly-Trap' which was keyboard orientated and very good.

Anyway, hope you enjoy(ed) the game. Come on United! Says me, though I expect you will cheer Chelsea.
Hope the rain stays off for it. Very changeable here today, rain, sun, wind etc. grin

Tut, tut, tut...drinking again eh nurse? Hope you're 'careful with that bedpan Nikki' to paraphrase a classic Floyd track!
Hope you had a good time at your friend's 45th. (Southern Comfort? Is there any drink you don't like?)
Well, take your head to bed and give it a good rest.

Have you played it yet, Steph? I think the line-up is the same as the last three Kaipa albums, minus Roine. Should be: Hans Lundin, Jonas Reingold, Morgan Agren, Aleena Gibson, Patrick Lundstrom and the new guitarist, who's name escapes me, but I think it is Per someone!
Anyway, what is your impression of it? Do you have any other Kaipa albums to compare it with?
I am getting this soon I hope, so just wondered what your opinion is. I love all the Kaipa albums, but this is the first one without Roine since the late seventies!
Cheers,
Carl cheesy

I've got Mind Revolutions and it's fantastic!

Let us know how well you like it, as it's supposed to be very proggy in a classic way.

Nov, I can't believe the list of tfk tracks that you haven't gotten into.. you're like their number one fan or something..

haven't heard all the tracks on your list, but of those i remember right now, you must pay extra attention to genie in a bottle, a vampire's view and too late for tomatoes.. all excellent tracks, at least the to first ones.. they are easily among my favorites, like top 30 or something.. any other band, and that wouldn't count for nothing. but as you may have found out, tfk is just any other band..

starting to really get into unfold the future now.. their best album?? almost meaningless to discuss that, but it is nothing short of fantastic.. i had serious trouble getting through the weekend without listening to devil's playground and monkey business (been on 48 hour guard duty on the firestation, without a cd player or computer..) and there's no doubt, devil's playground is my favorite tfk track. i can't believe that some of their fans dislike this song..

Carl

These are bonus tracks on the "Rainmaker" special edition CD.

I'm still getting used to all these other tracks but it's obvious that some of them are just fantastic. Others are interesting only for novelty value but that's fine.

grin I wouldn't go that far.

The thing is that when I got into the band I started buying all their albums and then new ones were coming out so I was getting swamped with all this amazing new music. So, I just started making compilation tapes of what sounded like the best tracks to listen to in the car. So, now I'm just revisiting those tracks which originally fell by the way-side.

I love "Genie" but struggle a bit with "Vampire" (I suspect that Nikki will love that one though).

I do like "Tomatoes" and most of their other fusion stuff but can't too much of it at a time. I'm more of a song and melody man.

Do they? I've never heard that anywhere.

It's a top 5 track for me.

Just bought:

Rainmaker
Stardust We Are
Unfold The Future (limited edition) - bonus track "Too Late For Tomatos."

I've not listened to them yet. Looking forward to taking the time very soon!

I now have 5 TFK CDs; the above, plus Paradox Hotel and Space Revolver. Looks like I still need to purchase Back In The World Of Adventures, Adam and Eve, Retropolis and Flower Power to round out my TFK collection.

Thanks for clarifying that Nov.
I wonder if all TFK members have 'nicknames'. From what I can make out 'Mr Hope' is Tomas, and 'Mr Rain' is Roine. Do you know of any others?

Glad you are liking some of those 'revisited' tracks now. Could be a new album there, a bit like Steve Hackett's 'Genesis Revisited'.
This one would be 'The Flower Kings Revisited'.
