The new TFK can't be any worse than Power Play. For me, that's the stinker of the years thus far. The band is fine, but Hasse's vocals ruin the disc. Their debut was much, much better.

I agree that the TFK member's side projects seem to offer the best music. Agents of Mercy are wonderful, and anything Karmakanic puts out is great. Tomas needs to release some more solo stuff too.

I'll reserve any comments regarding TFK's new disc until I actually hear the entire CD.

Nearly fell through the floor seeing Banks of Eden prominently displayed in new releases section at hmv right by the entrance!

Playing the new album just started disc 2. For me personally this is just brilliant. End of year polls - this is going to be right up there at the top.

Think it will get a lot of plays over the next few days grin

That's great David. Can't wait to hear it. I wonder when those of us who bought during the pre-sale will get theirs? sad

UPDATE - I just checked the Reingold Records site, and they have sent my copy.

UPDATE ON THE UPDATE - Guess what just arrived?! grin

That is truly amazing and most encouraging. Who would have thought this could happen thinking back to the prog wilderness years. It just goes to show how prog has come more to the fore in recent years and how bands such as The Flower Kings have risen in promenence.

Excellent news!

(which HMV is this by the way)

Never liked them, Just typical of the bulk of today's 'modern' prog bands, not very original.

Now these are.....

This is the equivalent of walking into a room full of friendly strangers and letting one rip.

Strange.

And, what's more, you are completely wrong.

And furthermore, it doesn't exactly entice me to investigate your band.

Nov- I may be mistaken, but I think aquiel was joking. At least that's how it came across to me, with the link to Magrathea's bandcamp page and the winking smiley.

Anyway, do you plan on going out and picking up Banks of Eden at a local store today? My pre-ordered copy should be arriving today and I can't wait to get home from work and listen to it. cheesy

It's a shame he's chosen to go all "neg" on TFK because I just purchased Magrathea's disc as an mp3 file and it is excellent. Both TFK and Magrathea deserve our attention, but posting negative comments about TFK won't make too many prog lovers want to listen to your band, especially on this site. I hope your 'winking eye' smiley face means you're just joking tongue

If that is the case then I apologise for my unimpressed response.

I'm not sure how I'm going to acquire it yet. I'm almost afraid to hear it because I don't want to be non-plussed like I was with TSONE.
