Currently listening to the compilation Nov sent me yonks ago. It's actually rather good wink Just listened to "In the Eyes of The World", which was very enjoyable and probably the best one so far, and now listening the the sublime "The Man Who Walked With Kings" cool

Both from Stardust We Are Disc One. I hope, your compilation also includes Church Of Your Heart, which is on the same disc. And of course the incredible and unbeaten title track of Stardust We Are, which closes disc two....

Are the songs no good either or is it just Hasse's vocals? I wonder what's gone wrong? If there is a problem with his voice then hopefully Roine recognised this early in the recording for the new TFK album.

Well Jon, it's a very boring rocker album, which I could deal with if it weren't for Hasse's vocals. The band is tight, I'll give them that. He should have made an instrumental, and I've said this about many albums over the years, to varied protests by fans. Hasse's voice seems tired, and when he tries to belt out some of the climactic vocal points, he just ruins the songs. He sounds fine when he sings quietly, but his rocking voice is gone. Maybe he had a cold or something during recording. I'm definitely hoping that Roine does most of the vocals on the TFK album.

Interesting. The compilation I got from Nov two or three years ago was as follows:

In The Eyes Of The World
The Magic Circus Of Zeb
Cosmic Circus/Babylon
Big Puzzle
Man Of The World
The Man Who Walked With Kings
Back In The World Of Adventures
A King's Prayer
I Am The Sun (Part 2)

So that's 5 tracks we have in common. wink

By the way, they're playing at London Scala on 24th September wink

It ain't gonna happen for at least 20 years - it took me that long to appreciate the brilliance of Rush. wink

Very nice! The talents that Roine, Jonas and Tomas possess are amazing. I do find that their side projects come across, at least to me, a lot more fascinating than their last couple of albums together with TFK. I hope they come to America and SoCal for a tour this time around.

I'm trying not to build up my expectations like I did before SONE was released.

Here's hoping........

Yeah, I understand what you mean (even though TSONE is possibly my favorite, as I'm sure you're all tired of hearing by now wink ).

But with this extended break, and Roine and co. getting to pursue other musical interests and stretch out a bit, it may bode well for Banks of Eden. Hopefully it will be fresh and exciting, while still sounding like TFK.

Fans can be a difficult group to please. grin

Pre-orders for Banks of Eden are happening now. cheesy Head over to flowerkings.se for details.

I thought some might like to know (although most of you probably knew already). wink

Will definitely go to the Leamington Spa gig but not sure about the London one undecided

I wish they'd gone for Islington or Camden rather than The Scala rolleyes

It's not my fave small venue by a long long way. Saw Riverside there with Oz, Gooner and Fraser last year (or was it 2010?) and it wasn't a great experience to be honest.
That had nothing to do with the music either wink

Really disappointed that they've gone for it.

Looking forward to finally seeing TFK again though smiley

These TFK gigs couldn't have fallen on a worse weekend for me undecided

It's my daughter's Birthday that weekend so I can't commit to any of the dates until I know what she wants to do. I played with The Phantoms on her 6th Birthday (as I couldn't get out of it) and she still brings it up grin

Why is this then Nikki? Where is The Scala and what's wrong with it? You must really hate it to not want to go there to see TFK.

I know that Fraser and Gooner were holding out for a London date but I really respect your opinion so this has made me very wary about trying to get down to this gig.

I wish they'd actually play 2 or 3 nights at a venue such as The Peel in Kingston. I played there with The Phantoms in March and they regularly have prog gigs there. It would be fantastic to see them in a packed out standing venue (capacity is 170) with superb sound rather than some grotty club elsewhere in London.

Definitely - I just hope I can. I might even have to look at one of the gigs across the water - Tilburg maybe?

By the way, do you know that Flying Colors (the new Morse/Portnoy project) are playing at SBE on September 21st? That literally is Jenny's Birthday so that's another one I can't go to cry

The Scala is right next door to Kings Cross and really easy to get to. It's actually very art deco and quite quaint. You must have been there when it was a cinema in the 1980's to see rock films overnight? (Song Remains The Same etc) Getting off and onto the floor can be a pain as people stand on the stairs. It was rammed for Riverside and VERY hot. Maybe it won't be jammed for TFK so maybe a more pleasant experience. Can get very close to the stage. Well, it's so tiny anyone could get close to the stage to be honest. I had some real dickheads next to me for Riverside so maybe this coloured my view of the night.
I don't hate it exactly, i just wish they had chosen somewhere else.

Oh no, don't let it affect your judgement on whether to go or not!! I just had a bad gig experience there, that doesn't mean i'll never set foot in the place again, it just means i'll consider all my options more thoroughly before booking tickets for a gig there.

Yes, my mate Paul almost booked the tickets last Saturday, but i told him at G2 not to get them, as we were waiting for TFK to announce their London show and if there was a date clash there'd be no contest really. TFK all the way.
