Just had a thoroughly enjoyable listen to Kaipa's "Solo"

The keys of Hans Lundin are awesome. I especially like the live bonus tracks. The keys remind me of Chester Thompson's style with Santana.

Great stuff.

Flower Kings vocalist Hasse Froberg and his group Musical Companion are releasing a new album 'Powerplay' on April 23rd.
About a year after the release of their critically highly acclaimed debut 'Futurepast' (Sept. 2010), the band entered the studio to cut the backing tracks for 'Powerplay' (April 2012).

As sound engineer on 'Powerplay', the band has chosen to work with Tomas Bodin. He's a colleague with Hasse in the established and influential prog band The Flower Kings. The collaboration proved to work out just fine and even if Hasse likes to be in the studio, he prefers the live scene: "Playing live is definitely the right element for us. I really can't wait to take The Musical Companion and the songs on 'Powerplay' on the road".

The line-up of the band is still the same, Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion:

Hasse Fröberg: Lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Anton Lindsjö: Lead guitar, backing vocals
Kjell Haraldsson: Keyboards, backing vocals
Thomsson: Bass, backing vocals
Ola Strandberg: Drums, backing vocals

IF YOU LIKED " FUTURE PAST, " THEN YOU'LL LOVE " POWER PLAY, " EVEN MORE!!!!!

Very cool, Nov! All the way from Russia, The Drunken Wookies! They even got a nod from Arjen of Ayreon for their performance. Very nice! smiley

UK DATE FOR THE FLOWER KINGS!!

Sunday 23 September 2012

The Flower Kings

The Picturedrome, Holmfirth

I think this is to be confirmed and it's all I know at the moment.

Do you know this venue Carl? It can't be too far from you - how about it?

I've seen it advertised on progrock.co.uk. I hope they add a few more dates.

It's where they used to film Last Of The Summer Wine

Ha...we're setting off soon up to Yorkshire for a few days in a rented cottage. One place we were looking at was the Keighley,Haworth area and we saw Nora Batty's cottage in Holmfirth on the Welcome to Yorkshire website. We actually thought about renting it until we saw the price!

Wouldn't that be surreal - stay in Nora's place to see the Flower Kings gig? grin

In anticipation of the new TFK CD, I just bought and have been listening to Tomas Bodin's "Pinup Guru" and "Sonic Boulevard". And -- wow! shocked What great music these albums contain! I wish I had listened to them sooner.

Yes, Tomas has released some wonderful music. His debut CD, "An Ordinary Night In My Ordinary Life," is great too, as well as "Vintage Prog" and "Cinematograaf."
