I've been playing Roine Stolt's 1989 album "The Lonely Heartbeat"

OK, not my normal cup of prog tea and I am quite surprised tbh, but I am finding it really great. Some fantastic moments.......third straight play.... cool

Definitely not prog, but up tempo rock, jazzy and some great guitar moments, good vocals......damn I'm even tapping my feet.
Roine completely changed scene with TFK's and thank goodness for that. But I kind of like this album. A bit more than two stars awarded on progarchives. smiley

You're not wrong there Colin.
I played it a couple of times myself a couple of weeks ago, and I'd forgotten just how strong it is.
Very impressive. smiley

Well, for what's it's worth my opinion is that Retropolis is a great album and remains one of my favourites by the band. I prefer it to Stardust We Are which I also played today. (not that SWA is a slouch cheesy )

Really enjoying coming back to re-aquaint myself with TFK's albums. smiley

Bit cheesed off because I can't find The Flower King which I wanted to play today. tongue

Hi there

Funnily enough, Retropolis remains the only TFK album I have heard all the way through, I even reviewed it for an edition of The Pavilion many moons ago and liked it - must have been a bad day! wink

Indeed, I too enjoy this album Colin. Quite different musically to TFK, yet you can still tell it's Roine behind the songs.
Must play it again soon in fact! wink

.......and Triamp9 has already ordered Meet the FKs and Transatlantic at SBE!

smiley

I wish all fans of the likes of Genesis, Yes, Camel, etc could spot the genius of TFK as quickly as this wink

Excellent smiley

I really should be on a commission for TFK grin

I'm sure you'll love it wink

One of the tracks (Circus Brimstone) is a wee bit more, er, challenging than the others but there are some great moments in that song. It's kind of a bit like a longer "Waiting Room" wink

The rest are simply 24-carat prog epics and I look forward to hearing what you think.

There is another live TFK DVD called "Instant Delivery" filmed on the Paradox Hotel tour which is in front of a much livelier audience and it's a much different set-list to Meet the FKs. I highly recommend this as well.

Did you order the Transatlantic DVD as well?

I sent you a pm by the way........

If you've not seen TFK's DVD "Tour Kaputt," Jon, then let me say that it is wonderful too. Pat Mastelloto (King Crimson) is on drums. Amazing stuff!

Got your PM Nov, thanks.

I didn't order the Transatlantic DVD yet, it's on the cards for next month. For the time being there's plenty of FKs and Transatlantic vids to peruse on Youtube. cool
