How is that album, btw? I've never listened to it -- I'd heard there was accordion on it, and that made me somewhat wary I suppose. laugh

I absolutely love it wink

Some of it is a bit strange and quirky but that goes for all of the FK family tree of stuff - these guys are Swedish after all grin

It's an instrumental mix of prog, folk and jazz with a real tongue-in-cheek vibe to the whole thing.

Highly recommended wink

Well the latest album in my chronological run through the Flower Kings albums is "Back In The World Of Adventures" and I'm really enjoying it.

I thought it would be fun for each of the albums to imagine that TFK existed in the 70s and that they were restricted to the length of an LP for each album (50 minutes max).

So from this album, this would be my dream LP:

Side 1
1) Back in the World of Adventures (13:37)
2) Theme for a Hero (8:27)

Side 2
1) Atomic Prince / Kaleidoscope (6:02)
2) Big Puzzle (13:25)

Right there is an LP every bit as enjoyable (to me) as any classic LP by Yes, Floyd, Rush, Genesis, etc, etc. And yet there are other fantastic tracks on the CD such as "Go West Judas" smiley

What would your LP from BitWoA be? Please stick to each album in turn as I go through them so that we don't get ahead of ourselves wink

Coming soon.........."Retropolis" wink

I think I'd agree with you Nov over your choice of song for an old style LP of BITWOA. Same four songs, with Go West Judas vying for a place too.
Seems our taste is startlingly similar! shocked

Think today I'll be giving Hasse Froberg and Musical Companion a few blasts. Future Past really is a superb album, with some typical Hasse rockers interspersed with some very melodic, TFK influenced pieces. Already one of my favourite albums by a member of TFK.
If his next one is as good, then the future looks bright, even though there is an absence of TFK material at the moment. smiley

This is the dvd/cd set I ordered on 4th Dec, which was supposed to arrive by the 10th, but didn't. I got in touch with Amazon and they said give it until the 20th because of the bad weather and delays. It still hadn't arrived then so I got in touch again. Then I got a card through the door on Christmas Eve, when I was in work, saying they'd tried to deliver, so went online and asked for it to be redelivered on 29th. Waited in all day but nothing arrived. Finally, just before lunchtime yesterday, the 30th, it arrived.
So, today I got to watch it for the first time. And yes Nov, I agree, after just one viewing of it, I think it is sensational! Haven't looked at the interviews or documentary yet. A very impressive package though it has to be said. Funny how they have hardly changed looks wise since Bridge Across Forever; apart from Daniel Gildenlow, who looks quite different now.
Will be getting the cds loaded onto itunes next, then onto my ipod. wink

I'm glad you've eventually got it and glad you're loving it.

It's great that you can spot several of the guys on the forum. You can see me in the crowd when Mike is crowd surfing - I'll mention where if you're interested. Also, you can spot Oz and Nikki in the crowd in Manchester at the end of the bonus documentary.

I actually get quite emotional watching it due to how flipping awesome it all is and how privileged we are to know about and be able to enjoy this stuff. All these guys give so much more than most other bands and yet they are so humble about their talents.

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM ROINE ON FACEBOOK!!

Happy Days ahead, most certainly -
We can all pull together and make them happy -
all of the 364 - for all of us - for all of 2011.

Much music & much love - much friendship & support -
...keep your focus on FUN.

Even yesterday my most significant contribution to the day was a bit of writing,
"trimming the fat" of a symphonic piece I've been mulling for some time.
Other than that......
I was a bit "elsewhere" with flu, but not in bed, still celebrating,a dinner with friends and
even with a glass of real champagne at midnight.

I know in the big picture we may be insignificant
but still I look forward to help give birth to a few new music products in near future.
Hopefully 2011 - besides the symphonic piece - writing on new AOM, helping mixing the coming official bootleg DVD from TFK tour 2007 with Pat Mastelotto on drums and who knows
2011 may even see a new TFK album or at least work on such a piece.
Besides that, I still need to weed out the good bits for a instrumental prog/guitar album I've been mulling for years.
if God and the weather permit it may even merge with a new 3rd World electric and in that case I would guess next 3rdWorld album would be less jazzy slick and more bare bones early 70's fusion.

Go get a Happy 2011.

Roine.

Watched the Transatlantic dvd twice now and watched the behind the scenes footage once. I've yet to watch the interviews.
What really annoys me is watching the superb musicianship and performances of this amazing band whilst knowing hardly anyone outside prog circles is aware of them! Media 'darlings' such as Coldplay, U2 or REM wouldn't last a minute if pitted against them, yet they, and bands like them, get all the plaudits. Damn unfair if you ask me! angry

Finally watched the Transatlantic interviews just before. Very interesting and nice to hear they may still reform and do more stuff in the future. It seems to suit them well, having a few years off and then coming back. Keeps them fresh and keen.
Fingers crossed they'll be back in three or four years. wink

Carl

I'll be getting your 3rd World Electric CD off to you soon wink

I hadn't forgotten.

Same goes for Gooners TFK CD though I'll probably give that to you at the G2 gig mate.

Cheers
