Yes, maybe they'll work together some more. It would make it a more stable band, and it would give Tomas something to concentrate on if he isn't involved in the next TFK project... undecided

Thinking about my last post, something tells me Tomas will be involved in the next TFK project - I think, by the time they are ready to reform, they will have patched up any differences they have. (Here's hoping!) wink

Definitely!!

My fave TFK line-up is:

Roine
Tomas
Jonas
Hasse
Zoltan

The only issue being that Tomas and Zoltan don't seem to get on for some reason.

The fact that that line-up produced "Unfold The Future" should make them one of the most revered prog/fusion bands in the whole wide world - just for that one amazing album.

To me, this is as good as anything by Genesis, Yes, Floyd or any rock band anyone cares to mention. Why doesn't everyone know about this band?

I saw The Flower Kings play "The Truth Will Set You Free" maybe 3 or 4 times and it was truly fantastic but watching this now, I don't even think I realised at the time how utterly incredible it was to be witnessing these guys playing this. I'd LOVE to see them play this again.

Thanks to COT I've got a copy of Eggs & Dogs and think it's superb! Great album and Michael Stolt does a more than decent job on the vocals. Also, his bass playing is up to its usual standard. I think, because Jonas replaced him and is obviously an exceptional talent that Michael's contributions to TFK are sometimes overlooked. He's a fine player himself. wink

And now I'm playing:

Tomas Bodin - Sonic Boulevard

Love this album. It's fascinating in parts. Very ambient, smooth, melodic, with lots of interesting guitar parts from Roine and JJ. Excellent songwriting throughout with more than one piece from TFK re-surfacing in there. Great album! cool

And now, still in instrumental mood, I'm listening to:

Roine Stolt - Hydrophonia

Brilliant album. Love every track, but the opener, Cosmic Lodge, is something special... cool

Yes - I adore this album.

Pure Stolt genius yet again.

I've actually just started listening through the Flower Kings albums in chronological order for the first time ever - starting with The Flower King of course. I've never done this before and I'm looking forward to the journey. What a fabulous album The Flower King is wink

Next up - Back In The World Of Adventures

Has anyone else listened through the albums like this?

I think that's my main way of listening to them. Granted it's usually at work, so I don't get the full appreciatn of them.

TFK is one of those bands that I don't listen to that often, but tend to love the experience when it happens.

Yes Nov, I've done the same thing myself once or twice. It's great to hear the progression in their music. They do that most difficult thing; release different types of albums whilst still retaining their signature sound.
Not many artists can do that successfully. cool

Roine has an innate ability to sound like other famous guitarists/ie, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, while at the same time adding his signature sound to TFK's music.

I keep half-expecting to see Roine's image gracing the cover of each new Guitar Player magazine, but it never happens. They actually did have a blurb in one issue about him, but it consisted of maybe a small paragraph; hardly what he deserves.

Like lots of publications, Guitar Player is quite conservative and blinkered at times. It will stick to the same old hackneyed phrases and faces.
It's a good job there is the likes of us to keep Roine and co in the limelight. wink

Today I'm going to dig out Tomas Bodin's Vintage Prog. It's been a while since I played it so it's well overdue a listen.
