Er...so what's the fourth contender then? undecided

I thought I'd copy this in from the Transatlantic thread:

Quote:
Nov will be cross with for saying this - Transatlantic suffer a bit (although not as much) of the same syndrome of Going On A Bit that the Flower kings do. A little bit of self-editing would go a LONG way

I do actually agree with you to some extent.

What I mean is that there are complete tracks on almost every Flower Kings album that I would be happy weren't on there (with the exception of Space Revolver). Some of their more experimental stuff I can't actually bare to listen to (e.g Christanople).

However, I can't think of any actual tracks that need editing down, even amongst their many epics wink

I stand by my general point regarding the Flower Kings back catalogue and that is that there is an average of 60 minutes of fabulous music on every CD (that's 120 minutes for the doubles). This is a phenominal achievement and more quality music than any other band I can think of. I'll let them off filling up the remaining 20 minutes with experimentation and indulgences wink

The average for each classic prog band, by contrast was probably about 15-20 minutes on each side of an LP.

...I, of course, love Christianopel... grin

But, as usual, it's each to his or her own. I can see why some wouldn't be too impressed with it. But even I agree that, occasionally, the odd track can go on a tad too long. Maybe Roine and the boys should start releasing albums that last just 45 - 50 minutes. That way, they'd have plenty of material left over to use for a long time to come! (Lots more TFK albums, yippee!) grin

Well, I've put all my Flower Kings cds on my ipod now, so I'm going through them chronologically, just to make sure they're ok - I know, what a pathetic excuse, but I'm sticking to it - currently playing:

Space Revolver

I think this album may have a chance of getting off the bottom of my personal table. I'm even taking to Monster Within now! Once I've played them all, I'll post an updated order. wink

At Nov's suggestion I am reposting the below on here from the Transatlantic thread wink

Does anyone know where I can get the roine mix of SMPTE , I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Having difficulty finding sola scripture as well.
I used to buy from independent guy over here but can't remember his website for all my prog needs.

Ah, that makes more sense now. cheesy

Sarcasm can be hard to convey in written form. smiley

Anyone excited about the new Agents of Mercy album? I can't wait to hear more from Roine's new band.

I'm more excited than I used to be. Fading Ghosts of Twilight continues to grow on me. Even Nad's voice has started to sound really good to me.

The Fading Ghosts Of Twilight grew slowly on me too. Having said that, it's not my favourite project of Roine's. undecided
