What a wonderful well-deserved tribute to one of the finest progressive rock bands to grace this planet over the last 10+ years.

Maybe this will inspire TFK to re-form smiley

(I would have expected Unitopia and Flamborough Head to pick longer songs) undecided

Wow!!

What a tribute to The Flower Kings.

I'm not sure if I want to hear it all but hopefully it will make Roine and the boys realise how much they are respected.

That's a very cool tribute album, and loaded with excellent song choices. I'd be very interested in hearing some of these, though I only know a handful of those bands. Hearing Apple Pie cover Chicken Farmer Song -- that sounds pretty neat. smiley

I'm with you guys. Hopefully Roine and the guys will see how well-loved and respected they are, and decide to keep the flame going.

Interesting. I like the username choice. wink

This is an album I wouldn't mind hearing, but I don't know that I would want to buy.

Thanks Dave, great picture, as always.

Well, I've played The Sum Of No Evil three times in the last three days. The main disc three times that is, and the bonus disc twice.

I'm still not sure where to place this album really. It's probably currently third or fourth from the bottom in my TFK list. As Nov has said more than once, it's got everything in the right place, but it doesn't make me go 'wow' anywhere unlike their other albums. They all do in certain places. It's consistent, and there's nothing bad on it. No low points, but no highlights either.
Maybe it's a good job they are having a break at the moment. They should come back inspired, hopefully.

Favourite track is still Love Is The Only Answer, followed closely by Trading My Soul. (Great solo at the end from Roine.)
Interestingly, on the bonus disc, I really love Regal Divers. It's the sort of laid back guitar piece that is right up my street when in the mood for something slow and melodic.
Of course, The River is another great song.

Along with Kaipa, it's got me back in the mood for some more Swedish prog though! wink

I've been playing Karmakanic - Wheel Of Life a couple of times lately. It sounds even better than it did before! wink

Just finished playing:

Roine Stolt - The Lonely Heartbeat

Some very different, quite poppish music on this at times, and also some bluesy sounding songs, though other tracks are not a million miles away from his more progressive leanings. They are all instantly recognisable as Roine however; they have his stamp all over them, and there is some wonderful guitar work throughout.
cool

Today played:

Roine Stolt - Fantasia

Another good album, closer in style maybe to his later days with Kaipa before he left. Can't say I'm particularly enamoured with the cover though. undecided

As ashamed as I am to type this, I never knew Roine had that many solo albums before TFK. Or that Tomas Bodin was with him as far back as '89 (if not earlier). Crazy...

Are they worth getting for a Roine/TFK fan such as myself?

Speaking for myself, I have two of Roine's solo albums and all of Tomas'. They are fantastic, and every TFK fan should own all of them.

By Roine -
Hydrophonia
The Flower King

By Tomas -
An Ordinary Night In My Ordinary Life
Pinup Guru
Sonic Boulevard
Cinematograaf
I AM

You Are

And of course if you don't have anything by The Tangent, Kaipa or Karmakanic, you'll need to purchase those as well.............seriously...........I mean it...... wink
