Having listened to snippets of Hasse Froberg's new project, HFMC (Hasse Froberg and The Musical Companion) I have to say I'm quite impressed. Plenty of powerful vocals on display, as expected, but also some nice guitar and some proggy bits too!
Think it might be worth a listen or three when it comes out.
All we need then is for Zoltan, or Jaime, or Marcus to do a solo album... cheesy

I received in the mail a couple of days ago Tomas Bodin's EGGS AND DOGS - "You Are," the second release in his trilogy. It was mailed and hand-addressed by Tomas himself, with his personal return address. Pretty cool. When I ordered it, Tomas e-mailed me to say thank you for being a fan, and for having interest in his music.

I've had a chance to listen to the disc 2 times now. The first time through was not what I expected. It didn't seem like there were enough keyboards for a Bodin release. But on the second listen, not only did the keyboards shine through, Marcus Lilliequist's drums and Michael Stolt's bass lines came through so crisp and clean, it was like I was hearing it for the first time. Funny how repeated listens to a CD can change your whole outlook.

Michael Stolt's vocals are much more pleasant than the vocals on I AM, the first in Tomas' trilogy of autobiographical releases. Stolt's voice is much more soulful and bluesy.

Jocke JJ Marsh's guitar playing is so over the top that I would have to say it's some of the best I've heard in a long, long time. WOW!

If you've not got this one, for God's sake get out there and purchase it. As far as I know, you can only get this through Tomas at http://tomasbodin.se/

You can hear some of the music on their MySpace site http://www.myspace.com/eggsanddogs

It's a strange thing - I am now "friends" with Roine, Hasse and Tomas on Facebook and now getting "friend" suggestions, presumably from their lists, to be friends with the likes of Chris Squire and Keith Emerson.

This just feels really bizarre to me grin

Same here Nov. I haven't seen Chris Squire, but I did see Keith Emerson. Haven't dared add him yet but I am now friends with Tony Patterson, Steve Rothery and Ian Moseley.
Seems we both move in elevated circles these days my friend. grin

havent been around in a while ,after reading a few pages I am reminded why I feel so at home here .Y'aLL LOVE ALL THINGS fLOWER kINGS as much as I do .
May I ramble? grin The Eggs & Dogs haunts me .I was not expecting the serious nature of the lyrics content [I really dont pay attention to lyrics anyways] I admit I was scratching my head trying to figure out why the band choose this path . Having said that ,the music has been in my mind since I first heard my early copy. I really like the vocals too. I find myself craving trac 2.
I am excited about the Hasse & friends ! That should be a good one . grin
Today was a Tfk listenin day [just me ,my paint brush ,and my new earbuds with my mp3 cool ]
ohhh ,and my band "Spoton" got a spot on the tfk tribute cd ! I'm so excited
and please ,no more talk of a break up. I have not seen TFk live yet !!!!! wink

Listening right now.

It's all too straight-ahead-rock for me but good luck with it mate.

The Power of Two

The concept of “The Power Of Two” is based upon the simple idea that two forces working together are more powerful than two separate units working on their own.

Two different repertoires are performed by one single group of people creating an extravaganza of rich textured “wall of sound” that hopefully will find a way to your hearts and minds.

We did a warm-up European tour in September before we packed our bags for two sunny weeks in the U.S.A. The first stop was Los Angeles and the CalProg festival where the drumchair was taken by Nick D'Virgilio. (Spocks Beard,Tears For Fears,Cirque de Soleil,Genesis) With only 6 hours of rehearsal and with almost three hours of dense material to learn, Nick showed how a "true pro" blend in and make it sound like we've been playing together for weeks. Judge for yourselves since all but one track on this disc were recorded from that very first show in Whittier California - October 10th 2009.

Enjoy!
Jonas & Roine

The Power Of Two are: Nad Sylvan - Vocal & Keyboards, Göran Edman - Vocals, Roine Stolt - Guitars, keyboards & vocal, Lalle Larsson - Keyboards, Jonas Reingold - Bass, Nick D'Virgilio - Drums.

DAVE: So what's happening with The Flower Kings then?

ROINE: Well as I said, it's put on ice. Now that doesn't mean that it's on ice for ever, just for now. We can't say for how long, but my guess is that we'll probably start working on something at the beginning of 2010 and then hopefully have a release by autumn. That's my guess, but of course it depends on what can change, things can happen with touring and stuff with Transatlantic, Agents of Mercy etc.
