If you want to listen to Karmakanic or Agents of Mercy in concert you can download shows from here

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=karmakanic%20AND%20mediatype%3Aaudio

and there are quite a lot of Flower Kings shows on the same site

There is mention of it over on The Garden Of Dreams forum, but, personally, the idea doesn't particularly grab me. undecided

Nor me.

I've never seen the point of these things, including the various Genesis tribute albums.

I love going to watch tribute bands but if I'm listening to a CD I just want to hear the originals.

What a stunning YES tribute band TFK are wink

Just heard The Truth Will Set You Free and gave up trying to count the Yes "sections" after around 200 or so wink

To be fair they are superb musicians just didn't float my boat.

Spocks Beard "Snow"..... Now that's brilliant smiley

Ok I will crawl back under my rock now

Best wishes

John

My favourite FK song embarassed Yes, (no pun intended) there are heavy 'Yes' references, but I also hear a whole hybrid of other sounds ranging from Camel to Spocks Beard.

Hi Ned

Not bad just was SO Yes it made me wince.

IMHO far too many themes but I suppose that may be the appeal. Thanks for letting me hear it though.

Some of the other songs in my Prog comp cd are stunning. wink

Best wishes matey

I guess with a track that lasts as long as most of the older albums - 32 minutes - there would have to be a series of themes to keep the attention span going. I like the changes but perhaps stretching the song for over half an hour is a bit ambitious even in these days. I love the live version of that song on the first FK DVD, 'Meet the Flower Kings' but don't particularly go with the shorter version on the second DVD 'Instant Delivery' It lacks something and I am not talking about the 16-18 minuts cut from the original full length version.

Nice to hear from you John and hope you are well.

I think it's fair to say that Yes are a big influence on TFK, especially Roine Stolt's guitar playing.

But, no more than other bands such as Genesis, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Steely Dan and Pink Floyd.

Please don't write TFK off after one track though because they've got as wide a range of tracks as any of those bands.

Also, they've certainly been better than Yes have been since 1977 wink

Don't analise, just listen wink

This is fair enough of course wink

You can easily play "spot the Genesis, Yes, Kansas, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd section" on this album as well wink

Spock's were my introduction to the 3rd wave of prog and were one of the best live bands I've ever seen but, for my money, TFK have proved to be far more inventive and versatile as the years have progressed.

Ok I will crawl back under my rock now

Please don't grin

I could easily send you a CD of TFK stuff NOT like Yes that would blow your socks off (if you were wearing any) grin

Cheers
