Me and Sue quiet?? shocked You've got the wrong people!!

I haven't forgotten TFK, have been playing your lovely compilations whenever I can (not an easy task while the kids are on holiday!!) and have been nagging anyone and everyone who'll listen to give them a try. grin

I've been quiet on the thread, as I've been unable to afford my first TFK album, but will report back my thoughts as soon as I can.

grin

So have you decided which TFK album will be your first, when you can afford it? (I predict you will choose Space Revolver, or Back In The World Of Adventures.)

Good call. They're both in my Amazon basket!!

When I have to choose it'll be a close run thing, but at the moment BITWOA is ahead by a neck grin

Space Revolver will always be my favourite Heather but you really cannot go wrong with either wink

Just buy them gradually and get used to each album before you get another, that's my advice wink

You cannot rush their music. It's like getting used to a new person that you know is going to become a life-long friend but you know that you mustn't swamp them with too much attention for fear of pushing them away.......

........or something like that wink

Well put Nov, have you ever considered music counselling? cheesy

To Heather I would say: if you're not really sure what to buy, then simply go for the albums chronologically. You can see how the band have developed, and you won't have to worry about being let down at all.
Trust me. I'm not a doctor. wink

Actually I think I've changed my mind, but I don't agree with Nov or Dave either.
I now think Heather should buy the albums in the following order instead:

Back In The World Of Adventures
Retropolis
Stardust We Are
Flower Power
Space Revolver
The Rainmaker
Unfold The Future
Adam And Eve
Paradox Hotel
The Sum Of No Evil

So there. Hmmp. tongue tongue tongue

You know what? I've changed my mind too. I agree completely with Carl's order of purchase, except that I would switch UNFOLD THE FUTURE and THE RAINMAKER. I've rated the albums too, 10 being a perfect TFK album, something most bands could never achieve. In fact, a TFK 10/10 would be any other band's 5/10. Notice that the cream rises to the center? cool This will allow Heather to savour the soundscape of TFK and then come to a climax before returning to earth with the latest, but not greatest from the band.

Back In The World Of Adventures 8/10
Retropolis 8/10
Stardust We Are 9/10
Flower Power 9.5/10
Space Revolver 9.5/10
Unfold The Future 9.5/10
The Rainmaker 7.5/10
Adam And Eve 7/10
Paradox Hotel 6.5/10
The Sum Of No Evil 6/10

Of course, the DVD, "Meet The Flower Kings" is a must-have, even if you didn't buy ANY of the albums.

Well i think she should just buy some Motorhead instead .......... laugh laugh laugh grin

Sorry, sorry, that was the evil side of me coming to the surface there for a sec, i usually keep her under control, but she does get out from time to time embarassed embarassed embarassed laugh wink

Seriously, i would say ....... Paradox Hotel ...... cos that was my first grin (sigh, comes over all emotional) coupled with Space Revolver cool

Don't go anywhere near Unfold The Future or Flower Power for a good few months wink (Not without a good shrink and an egg whisk anyway) wink Wonderful albums both, but not early TFK purchases in my book.

Now that Lemmy, there was a good looking chap if ever i saw one, can't think what i ever saw in Hasse laugh laugh laugh laugh

Joking, Hasse is still doing the boat floating for me grin

Off to play some TFK right now! Yes, a stay at the Paradox Hotel is long overdue ............... kiss

Interesting you rate them in the virtually the same order. I shall be taking it slowly and eventually I'll put them in my own order and see how they compare.

I'll be reporting here as I go grin

I do love some of the heavier stuff Nikki, but I've never been into Motorhead. Lemmy used to scare the socks off me, when he was propping up the bar in The Marquee shocked

Now, I wondering what I need the egg whisk for, but perhaps I shouldn't ask! lipsrsealed

Hope to catch up with you at a gig soon.
