From this site you get the price from several retailers. Just click on the desired album smiley

Just one thing........surelt that should have read 'desired albums' - plural. grin

NOW I understand why you guys go on......and on grin about The Flower Kings.

After the first few bars, I had a big grin on my face, thinking 'I think I'm going to like this.' First track to really stand out was In The Eyes Of The World, then I got to A King's Prayer and wow, I Am The Sun (though I did get disturbed by the phone, so I don't think I got the full effect!)

More plays over the next few days and I'll report back on how it grows on me - not that I need persuading how wonderful this is. grin

Thank you SO much Nov. kiss

Next question guys - Which album do I buy first??

Sounds like you've got it bad already! Great news indeed.
As for which album to buy first, well, it really is down to personal choice. They're all magnificent, and we all have our favourites. Mine is Flower Power too, but, to be honest, I would recommend you start with a single album, just to get you started.
Although Space Revolver is my least favourite FK album, it's still a wonderful effort, and I'd probably recommend you to start with that. Either that or their first album, Back In The World Of Adventures. Then you could work your way chronologically through them.
The choice is yours, you really can't go wrong. wink

Do you remember back in 2007 when Nikki was being seduced by the band, she purposefully left Flower Power until last and that became her favourite?

The thing is Heather, you cannot rush it with The Flower Kings. I mean, I'm still getting into certain tracks after 7 or 8 years. There is so much incredible music that you can feel swamped initially.

The temptation is to buy a few albums at a time but they each take many listens to fully appreciate.

Bottom line? Buy "Space Revolver". It's still my favourite and probably one of the easist to get to grips with.

I think I'm as excited as you and I feel you could multiply that thousands of times around the world if only people were aware of this amazing band.

smiley

By the way, I just checked back through this thread and if you have a look from page 7, Nikki is acquiring TFK albums and going bonkers over each one grin

Regarding the guy I work with, Tyler, whom I gave disc #1 of the Meet The Flower Kings DVD, he came in this morning and told me he thought TFK were unbelievable. Tyler is a longtime bassist and thinks Jonas is fantastic! I gave him disc #2 this morning, so we'll see what he says tomorrow. I didn't want to give him both discs at the same time as it's way too much material to take in all at once.

The second disc has a bizarre version of Circus Brimstone, which I love, but some folks may not appreciate. Reminds me very much of Zappa (Frank) who was a musical genius. Some people never could see beyond Frank's lyrics; they were what many people considered low-brow humour. Roine idolized Frank Zappa's talents and I can hear this in a lot of his guitar work.

I envy anyone who has not yet seen this DVD. I remember how I felt the first time I saw it. I couldn't believe there were musicians putting out that caliber of work in this day and age. Prior to this time, I was stuck in a classic rock rut. Nothing wrong with classic rock, but my appreciation for great music was slowly dying.

Thanks to Nov, Ned, Demo Man and others on this board, I've discovered so many wonderful groups and artists from all around the world. Absolutely amazing! smiley Thanks everyone! There's nothing like having music flowing through your veins and arteries cheesy

This is definitely a honeymoon period for Heather now. She has so much to look forward to. It's great to see new fans emerge and TFK owe Nov a big debt of gratitude for spreading the word so much.
I was already a fan before I knew of Nov's, er, obsession, but his enthusiasm knows no bounds and he is like an effervescent will o' the wisp, gambling through the gardens of ignorant night, spreading the word and converting many to his way of thinking.

Definitely.

I love hearing from people new to the band.

Are you still enjoying the CD Heather? smiley

As I always say, it's my pleasure. I feel as evangelical about the band (if you know what I mean) as I was 5 years ago and love spreading the gospel according to TFK cheesy

And as I also always say, I'd love to see their popularity snowball at some point so that they got the success they deserved.

One appearance on something like Jools Holland's show would suddenly bring them to the attention of many people just like me, you, Nikki, David, Heather, etc, etc. who are desperate to hear something as good as this. It beaks my heart when you see the bollox they prefer to promote on some of these shows though. I'd love to hear them just once on mainstream radio. Even a simple TFK song such as "Cosmic Circus" or "Starlight Man" would burst out of the radio like a beam of light amongst the mainstream crap that's served up to the masses.

I do wonder if the band are even aware of this thread and the one on the Genesis forum. I have mentioned it to them in person after a gig once but I got a puzzled Swedish look back grin

Very poetic grin

I've never been called a "will o' the wisp" before.

Well, as long as we keep it ticking over during these months of TFK activity.

New fans (like Heather) and new guys like bassman turning up is brilliant smiley

As far as I know it's only a one-off gig in Whittier, California. Papa Jim is the person responsible for making a little magic happen on October 10th of this year. I suggested to him after last year's CalProg that he might try and get Karmakanic, Kaipa or The Tangent to perform in 2009. Well, he got Roine and Jonas both in Agents Of Mercy and Karmakanic on the same stage in one evening. That's going to be about 2 to 3 hours of heaven, PLUS Touchstone and It Bites are on the bill as well.

Nick is also doing a one-off gig performing The Lamb with a 14-piece band, including horns and strings, with Spock's Beard hitting the stage afterwards for probably another 2+ hour set. This is going to be an amazing couple of concerts that you won't want to miss. If you live within 200 miles, you might want to try and make it to the shows.

I've got a feeling that bassman is in Holland (as he's going to Symforce) so LA is quite a trek grin

Another tip, pay the extra for the special editions smiley

I have to say that TFK's Cd's are pretty expensive and a target of 10-12 a CD is probably realistic, however it's obviously best to shop around.

I meant to say before that I agree with Demo man regarding paying extra for the special editions.
When The Flower Kings include bonus material, it actually is bonus material, not just the odd live track bunged on the end of an album, or an edited version, or slightly different remix of a track already on the album. They actually give you brand new additional material, and it's usually of a pretty good standard too. Always worth a listen or three. wink

I'm loving it! grin

I've played it at least twice a day since I got it and I'm beginning to learn the tracks. In The Eyes of The World is still favourite at the moment.

Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful music. kiss
