I love the sense of humor here.My favorite one is Unfold The Future, probably because The Truth Will Set you Free blew me away and made me want to hear more...and more... but I also am very fond of Space Revolver,Sum Of No Evil,Paradox ,Rain Maker, I really like them all !
I was turning a friend on to TFK not so long ago ,and it took 4 cd's compiled from 12 records . I couldn't trim my favorites. Every record has excellence . Great band.
I do play bass. I love great music ,and I find it's easier to find a great band with a great bass player than it is to create a great band and be a great bassplayer . cool

I love your last quote, bassman. Very true regarding the bass. As for the humour on here, it is rather appealing at times - apart from mine. cry
Funnily enough, my top two TFK albums are Flower Power and Unfold The Future. It may be just coincidence, but they were the first two TFK albums I bought, and in that order too!
Nov has a theory, which I agree with in part. It is that your favourite album by any band or artist is often the first one you hear by them. In a lot of cases - but not all - I find that quite accurate.
I totally agree regarding the band's consistency too. I love all their material - and there aren't that many other bands or artists I can say that about, not even Genesis.
Later I will post my current list of TFK albums, in the order I like them. wink

Your CD has been made and is currently being road-tested wink

Here's the track-listing:

1) Back In The World Of Adventures (13:37)
2) The Magic Circus Of Zeb (7:07)
3) The Man Who Walked With Kings (5:00)
4) In The Eyes Of The World (10:39)
5) Cosmic Circus / Babylon (5:47)
6) Man Of The World (5:59)
7) Slave To Money (7:30)
8) A King’s Prayer (6:02)
9) I Am The Sun (Part 2) (10:39)

Comments guys?

I know I tend to play it a bit safe on introductory CDs for people. I don't want to scare anyone off with 30 minute epics right at the start of their Flower Kings introduction.

I recently ordered Carpe Diem - Flower Kings Live at Cal Prog 2005 - from the TFK website. It had been a few days, and as impatient as I am, I e-mailed them and asked when I could expect shipment of the CD. This morning, I checked my e-mail and there was one from Roine himself saying that my CD would be shipped out no later than today, Monday. A little strange getting notice from the man himself. Pretty cool, eh?

I've also ordered Tomas' CINEMATOGRAAF. It appears to be a hit or a miss amongst critics. The best review I've read of it thus far stated that each of the three tracks on this disc is gorgeous and that the musical scores grow in layers and magnitude as they progress. It's primarily an album of ambient music that leaves you feeling cleansed and refreshed. I'm looking forward to getting both these discs and listening to them repeatedly.

Very cool indeed.

However, shouldn't he be busy making music with Transatlantic rather than e-mailing you? undecided

Oh don't encourage him, for God's sake! Reading his last few posts I've noticed a definite upturn in his humour. He's obviously feeling refreshed and raring to go!
As for his joke regarding the dwarves, I only have one thing to ask regarding that: Do six out of seven dwarves feel happy though? (Don't blame me for that, my wife thought of it and insisted I put it!)

Regarding the cd he's compiled for you, the only comment I would make, apart from saying it's an amazing line-up of songs, is I'm a little surprised he didn't put 'I Am The Sun pt 1' on it as well. It would have gone well either at the start of the disc, or just before pt 2.
Nothing else to say really, except Nov certainly knows his onions...not sure about his sprouts, but definitely his onions. Enjoy! wink

I agree Nov!

This was how the e-mails went -

Hello - I was just wondering if you can tell me when my order will ship?

Thanks in advance for your time.

- Dave L.

---- Roine Stolt <flowerkings@foxtrot.se> wrote:

Dave ,

Probably sent - or will be sent beginning of coming week .

thanx.
R.

Roine - Looking forward to seeing you and your bandmates at this year's Cal Prog.

We missed seeing TFK last time you were here, so this will be a real treat.

My wife and I admire your songwriting talents and you are a genius on the guitar.

We'll be sitting third row center.

Looking forward also to the new Transatlantic CD when released.

What can I say.......I get all giddy when I think of Roine and the boys. grin tongue wink

As a matter of fact, there's a mail courier where I work and he's been a bassist for many years. He says his band opened for Montrose back when Sammy Hagar was in the band, and got to know him pretty well. As I've mentioned before, Sammy grew up here in Fontana, California (next city over from where I currently live).

Anyway, this guy's been playing bass for 40 years and is stuck in the classic rock mode that I was in before Nov and everyone had drenched me with all the great new progressive rock that exists all around the world. Well, Monday I gave him a copy of the 2-disc Genesis Rewired with Nick D'Virgilio and his band, and he absolutely loved it. Get this, he's never heard The Lamb shocked

So I burned him a copy of the Meet The Flower Kings DVD. I can't wait to see the expression on his face after he watches it. He's just like I was when I discovered all this new music, a sponge waiting to absorb all this great stuff that's out there.
