I think it was the year before, not that it would matter where you're concerned! laugh

Only joking mate, I've fallen for a few over the years too.

Let's hope Hasse's working on his tonsils as we speak, ready for the next TFK recording session. I really think the next album may be a double, when it comes, seeing as they're having such a long break. (Well, long for them!) cheesy

Could you Flower Kings fans please get your votes in for the top 3 bands poll I'm running.

Not that I'm trying to affect the result of course.

I know you already have, Dave wink

No, shan't, can't make me, so there!!!
After all, what have The Flower Kings ever done for me? Produced a few very short and musically dubious albums that just go to demonstrate the conspicuous lack of talent present in today's so called 'top prog bands'.
Tut tut, I couldn't possibly vote for such an average Danish band as them. Will, instead, give my three votes to the following 'genuine' giant talents:
Brotherhood Of Man, Dollar & Guys And Dolls.
So there.

Hmmf angry

Angry, from Mayfair.

Been playing Agents Of Mercy a couple more times.
Musically, it's getting better with each listen, but I'm still not too sure about Nad Sylvan's vocals.
Still, I definitely recommend it. smiley

Congratulations TFK on making fourth place in the top 3 bands poll!
They did better than I expected.

A most excellent result. wink

(And thanks to Nov for running it.)

I did get Roine and Tomas to vote, but they both voted for Milli Vanilli, for some unknown reason... rolleyes

This is hilarious! I'd never listened to any of the two solo albums that Roine had put out in the 1980s. They sound so vastly different than what he's been doing since then. Some of the tracks sound wonderful, especially on the '89 album, and others sound just plain bubble gum.

Had a couple of listens to this and to be honest (sorry Carl) I just don't like it at all and am very disappointed. The songs are, to my ears, very fragmented and with little melody but the biggest let down is the vocals which are much better on Unifaun's album. I think Nad is trying to sing the songs the way Roine wants and for me he struggles on many of the numbers. I also feel that a lot of the material sound like outtakes from FK albums that just did not make the grade. Some sound rushed together and others not very well thought out. However, what do I know? I can only judge from my ears and as a huge FK fan. I think that the quality of music from Roine has started to fall a little over the last few albums and hope that it picks up again for the next FK album.
Anyone else share a view on the Agents of Mercy album?

Well Ned, although I like the album better than you do, I do think you have a couple of good points there. We agree on the vocals not being so good. And the music, while I quite like some of it, is nowhere near up to TFK's standard, it has to be said.
Of all Roine's projects, both old and new, solo and band orientated, Agents Of Mercy is probably my least favourite.
Personally, I don't think there is much connection musically between this album and TFK's stuff. None of it sounds particularly like TFK to my ears.
And as for you asking 'what do I know?' well, I, for one, trust your judgement and value your opinions, knowing what a fan of music you are, and have been, for many long years.
Always nice to read your take on things.

I have to say that the last two posts and the clips that I've heard have made up my mind not to bother with this album.

The main thing is that I don't like the guys vocals and I just can't get beyond that.

Then you will clearly not like this new album Nov, as the vocals are a huge disappointment.

Between Tomas and Roine they both have chosen disappointing vocalists, especially Tomas' "I AM." I've heard all the arguments regarding how Anders Jansson (vocalist on I AM) can really put his emotions in a song. Well, if it sounds like crap, it's crap IMO. I haven't heard AGENTS OF MERCY yet.

It's a good thing that Neal and Roine both are putting their heads together for the new Transatlantic album, because the music they've been releasing of late sounds very samey.....talented yes, but boring.
