Itís just a matter of preference. In spite of your worry, I am not going to persuade any die-hard TFK fan. rolleyes

Moon Safari are a superb band in their own right. The question is, can they keep it up? If their next couple of albums maintain the quality of their first two, they'll probably become my third fave Swedish band, behind TFK and Kaipa. smiley

I rather count them as members of the TFK family, Dave. If I started putting all those projects in the pecking order, there'd be no room for anyone else! laugh

Well, in defence of Moon Safari, I'd have to say that TFK are pretty retro as well Fraser wink

Ok! well maybe you chaps know better but someone's going to have to explain it to me sometime...I have never thought of TFK music as retro!...do you mean they are deliberately setting out to create something that sounds like it's from another era huh

I don't know about "deliberately". I think Roine and the band just create exactly what the feel they need to express and there's no doubt that TFK do sometimes sound like a long lost classic 70s band. For me, it's part of their appeal.

Let's face it, if bands use the classic 70s keyboard sounds (mellotron, hammond, morg, etc, etc) then they're pretty much setting their stall out and nailing their colours to the mast (and any other metaphors I can think of grin)

Also played Paradox Hotel recently and it is altogether very impressive.....a very slowly registering album for me, but eventually it has got fully inside me. smiley

Gonna stick The Road Back Home in the car now and give it the full treatment. cheesy

The Flower Kings often take time to sink into one's soul but once they're in there, they're there forever.

Like love wink

I'm sure that there are many rock fans who just give them one listen and because they don't immediately register, they write them off and then say to others "oh I tried TFK but think they're over-rated" or stuff like that.

All of us know that they need time and dedication (like a good woman!) and they then pay back in spades.

I played the whole of that the other day whilst writing Chirstmas cards. The tracks on there from CD2 of "Flower Power" are fabulous and yet there are even TFK fans who criticize that whole disk as filler huh

Anyway, glad you're continuing to enjoy your TFK journey wink

Are you hopeful of being able to see them next year? Where abouts do you live?
