Latest news from Roine:

Music in progress !!

Yes that's true - we're not dead and buried just yet .

Can't say we're mullin' those TFK 30 min epics just yet - nor drinking coffee and listen
to the vast demo harvest.......no we are just working on a few other things ,not exactly TFK but definitely this will give you your TFK fix anyway in early 2009.
(or get you yet another TFK CD that you can ridicule on the messageboard of choice
if you're the jealous kind and happen to be a not so successful musician....)

We have new music in progress both at Villa Bodin and over the Cosmic Lodge
and we have a few new collaborators that will astound you that work in their studios
elsewhere on planet earth - we're productive .

So yes - a bit of a short intermission for what might be labeled TFK but nevertheless
some related music, some familiar faces and some new faces and meanwhile I might suggest you check out the new Karmakanic _ "Who's The Boss In The Factory" and/or Tomas Bodins - "Cinematograf".

stay tuned for more info .

If you live in Moscow - get your ticket for a TFK gig on Nov 29th .

Roine.

Well, in my opinion, both Moon Safari albums, although enjoyable, are just not in the same league as any of the Flower Kings albums.

I see the totally overrated TFK are expired. wink Roine and Co clearly show they have NO FRESH IDEAS to come with another decent album. lipsrsealed
Regarding Moon Safari. These Swedish guys have a superb potential to recreate an powerful, exciting retro sound and able to integrate some unusual influences in their brilliant music. smiley

Daft comment wink

Let's see what Moon Safari are doing after 10 albums.

Where do you get that from?

I like them but they basically sound like a cross between The Flower Kings and The Beach Boys across the entire length of both albums and that gets a bit wearing after 3 or 4 tracks.

You need to come out from under that rock, Marygold. Roine has been at the forefront of groundbreaking progressive rock for over 30 years. He, along with Tomas, have released some absolutely hair-raising albums, the likes of which have rarely been seen by other artists. Roine has the golden touch when it comes to lyrics and melody. I have no doubt that Roine and his musical friends will be producing fabulous music long after many of today's 'greats' have withered away. Can you tell you've touched a nerve? wink

Agree and in any case, both bands are different in many ways, FKs are more complex while MS are more melodic and lighter in sound. Tomas Bodin is the link between both bands as producer of MS albums plus both are Swedish. Not fair to compare both bands as they do offer music from a range of spectrums. I love them both anyway.

Find that a strange statement when Flower Kings are very retro in sound? Personally I love the summery feeling that Moon Safari bring and it is both fresh, melodic and fabulously played music. The vocals are some of the best I have ever heard on any rock album.

Well, in defence of Moon Safari, I'd have to say that TFK are pretty retro as well Fraser wink

The truth is that they are an amazing young band with a fantastic sound but if someone like Marygold feels they need to come on this thread and denigrate The Flower Kings to promote them then I will come straight back with a few home truths wink

Anyway, have a listen to the Moon Safari mp3 on this page: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2124

Nice eh?
